Potato salad tasted like rotton eggs.

We bought $65 worth of food, including a 2 meat tray (one was brisket), a half pound of brisket, a brisket sandwich, and some other sides. Over HALF of the brisket was fat. What wasn't fat was quite good, and the sides were great. Unfortunately my first choices were not available. I understand there's always going to be some fat with brisket, but serving someone half their order of meat as fat is a rip-off. Staff were friendly but could have said something or asked.

I’m very disappointed and upset with Mitch’s. I walked to the line and all was good. I got checked out by this little guy named “Andrew”.I turned the corner to go get a drink but realized I forgot my cup. I went back to the cashier but overheard him calling me a “lardass butterball”. I was very hurt because I am on the bigger size. I get “fat jokes” are funny to some people. I don’t feel the work place behind your loyal customers is the place to do it. This happened about Thursday or Friday.

Driving home from Albuquerque and needed some gas and food. We stopped at the Valero that had both a Wendy's and Mitch's TX BBQ. Instead of a burger, I decided to get a sliced brisket meal that includes sandwich, TX chips and one side. Since I got 2 meals, I tried the green chili mac n' cheese and fried okra. Both were good sides, but this sandwich needed the extra condiments that are available; including jalapenos, onions, pickles and bbq sauce (hot or sweet). The hot wasn't that hot, but these made the sandwich not as dry. For a gas station BBQ joint, it sure beats fast food choices!

Tried this out yesterday since it's new to Lubbock. First off, the staff is very friendly. There were only two people working and both greeted us. We ordered the Mitch's special ($26) because it had a little of everything. The best two items were the sausage and the potatoe salad. The rest of the meats (turkey, brisket, and pork) were kind of dry in our opinion and he forgot the sauce but they provide some. They make the crispy potatoe chips fresh each day and portion was very small. The banana pudding tasted like imitation...strong banana flavor and not as good as mine. Just being honest, wouldn't be my go to BBQ place. There are others around with better. But if you're on that side of town getting gas and in a hurry, it might be an option to consider. To use the restroom, you have to go to through sets of doors and down a hallway to the Toot N Totum side. They do serve breakfast (7-9 AM) but not sure what that menu consists of.

The only thing I'll add is there are too many people going in there who are first time shoppers. I feel like everyone who comes in to order food needs to be treated as if they've never been there before and instructed and how to order. We ordered a turkey plate and a stockpile plate The food was great although I had some questions about my purchase we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. If you're going through lamesa and you would like to experience some really good barbecue, served up fast and hot . Stop by and give them a try.

Decided to give the new place a shot. Came in at 3pm and they did not have any turkey. Decided to get 1/4 pound of sliced brisket. $10 for 1/4 pound seemed a little high but hey it may be good. When I opened my container and found that I had 2 big end pieces of just fat… and it was cold and dry. That did it for me. Atleast use the fat and mix it up in the chopped brisket. Hopefully when they have turkey again maybe that will redeem themselves. But what do you really expect for a bbq place inside a gas station.
