Hidden bakery jewel here in Laredo. Best baked cinnamon roll, almond dessert along with croissant.Have tried so many and none is as fresh, moist and mouthwatering as these. Highly recommend to try. Great customer service as well!

My first experience with Rodriguez & Family bakery will be my last unfortunately. I recently ordered a cake for Mother's Day wanting to support a small local business during these challenging times. When there was a delay in getting my cake the first time I went to pick it up, I thought perhaps they had overcommitted on orders and were behind so I gave them a chance. I returned later that day and was told the cake would be ready to frost by the time I arrived. It was not. It was at least another 20-30 minutes. I paid $30 for a 10-inch cake, although I had specified an 8-inch. The cake was not edible. It was a 10-inch disappointment. I am a professional chef and have worked with professional pastry chefs for the last 15 years. I know what a good cake should taste like. This cake was dry, flavorless, unless you count the off odor like ammonia that came off the cake when our guests tried to take a bite. It was the worst cake I have ever had and a tragedy given it was a surprise for my mother. I called the bakery a few days later to explain what I had experienced only to be told that the cakes were made fresh daily and that the father of the business would be given my message. A week later, no one has followed up. No return phone call, no refund, no store credit, more importantly, no "we're sorry" was even offered. This is inexcusable customer service. My guess is I'm not the only one who had this issue over that particular weekend as I noticed several people coming and going while I was waiting for my cake, also asking for theirs. What's more, $30 may not seem like much to some, but it was a bit out of my budget given that my hours have been cut like so many given this covid situation, but I wanted something special for my Mom. Lesson learned, I should have just baked it myself. I really would have made something so much better. To the owners of Rodriguez Bakery, your name is on everything that goes out of your ovens and into this community. I hope you remember that the next time something less than perfect lands in the hands of your customers. And to the gentleman who tried to pin this one on his poor father to take care of, you are also responsible if you work for this company. Too much lip service, more actual resolution would be the advice I would suggest you take to heart.

The bread sweet bread and cheese cakes are delious I recommend everyone to stop by the bakery awesome customer service aswell and you could call to pre order even better.

Best customer service ever! Beyond a bakers duties with this Covid-19 ordeal. Asked me if I wanted a buttercream frosting but having just told him it was for my dads 87th birthday he was at the quick to recommend a lighter but just as decadent chocolate cool whip frosting. He even added lettering & brought the cake out to my truck. Now that is service! My mom, dad, hubby, everybody enjoyed the chocolate cake. It was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had! & they’re cheesecakes OMG melt in your mouth yummo! Lol
