My family & I came to Black Bear Diner last weekend. We were super overwhelmed with the giant menu but our server Rachel helped us choose our breakfast meals and we were very impressed! Service was amazing, food was amazing!! We will be coming back 💕

I asked for a burger well done, and it was still pink in the middle. Too high of a risk of E. coli for me to finish. The Reuben sandwich came with no sauerkraut. Onion rings were below my expectations.

Marvin definitely saved the day after a huge doordash hiccup. He went above and beyond to create a great experience. Thank you so much for your kindness, patience and thoroughly explaining 🙏🏻

Brandi was a wonderful waitress! Friendly and warm and had our orders in ASAP because we have young impatient kiddos. My husband and I shared the Joe Hobo’s Omelette and it was delicious! It was more than enough to share and was full of meat, cheese and veggies. The hashbrowns were crispy and we added a side of bacon. My kids loved the sprinkle pancakes and ate all three. We loved our coffee - she made us a fresh pot and kept our cups full our entire meal. Much prefer this place to Cracker Barrel or Denny’s. It’s inviting, clean and the food portions are humongous - similar to Kelley’s.

The League City Black Bear has gone way down hill since they opened. We frequented Black Bear often right after they opened and it was good. Now no one cares about plate presentation. My Dad's waffle looked soggy and damaged. And it was under cooked. Another friend had biscuits and gravy with hardly any gravy. She asked for a side of gravy and only got a half a cup. We asked for more gravy and finally got a full cup. I had orange juice to drink. It tasted terrible, like it was made from the cheapest oranges Black Bear could get. In the men's restroom the handicap stall door is broken and will not lock which violates ADA requirements. There was little pieces of fecal matter on the floor in the handicap stall. That is considered to be a violation of a public accommodation's general obligation to maintain accessible features in working and usable condition. The handicap stall toilet paper holder was empty and it holds 2 of the very large rolls which takes about a week for the holder to completely run out of toilet paper. So no one checked the toilet paper holder for a week. And there was trash and trip hazards on the floor in the men's restroom.

Foods alway pretty good and the servers do a good job. But its really hard to enjoy a meal when one of the employees has bad hygiene. Everytime they walk by the smell of BO dominates the table. I could I understand if it were a lumber yard but its a restaurant and Im trying to eat. Management should have higher personal hygiene standards for people handling food.

Way over priced for breakfast. Sausage was not to good, orange juice had pulp and watered down and was $6 each. Did not tell use they had 2 sizes, just gave us the large. Coffee was $4 and very strong, could not even finish my first up. Husband wanted soft scrambled, they were way off. Over all, think I'd rather go to a waffle house or denny's. They do not even offer a senior discount.

I love this place but today I bought 4 family plates to feed my employees and while the food is great, we got no plates, no eating utensils, no syrup or butter for pancakes and no gravy for the chicken fried steaks or biscuits. While my shop was thankful I will say I hyped you guys up, just to be let down.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Black Bear Diner – Exceptional Service & Kindness Beyond Expectations

Today was our first visit to Black Bear Diner, and it turned into one of the most touching dining experiences we’ve ever had.

My daughter has severe and complex food allergies, and after briefly skimming the kids’ menu, it didn’t look like she would be able to eat anything safely. We had already ordered drinks when I told our waitress, Brandi C., that we would need to leave.

Instead of simply wishing us well, Brandi immediately reassured us and refused to charge for the drink. She then went above and beyond—she offered to speak to a coworker who has similar allergies and took the time to fully understand my daughter’s restrictions. She was warm, patient, and truly cared.

Within minutes, Brandi returned with a thoughtful, safe meal option the kitchen was willing to accommodate for my daughter. Her kindness alone would have earned five stars.

When it came time to pay, I asked to compliment her to the manager, and the experience became even more meaningful. The manager greeted us with the same warmth and compassion. She talked openly about her own food allergy experiences, genuinely connected with my daughter, and even mentioned giving Brandi additional shifts because of the excellent service she provided.

Then—completely unexpectedly—the manager offered to gift my daughter a stuffed animal from their Bear “Adoption Center” gift shop. My daughter chose a pair of adorable bear paw slippers, and I was so moved by the gesture that I genuinely cried. This allergy journey has been incredibly overwhelming at times, but moments like this remind us that there are wonderful people who care.

What could have been a stressful, disappointing meal turned into a memory we’ll hold onto for a long time.

Thank you, Brandi C., and thank you to the manager and kitchen staff. Your compassion made our day, and our family will forever be grateful.

(Photos attached include the kids’ menu and the sweet bear paw slippers my daughter picked out.)
