Easily one of Texas's best classic BBQ spots. The meat is consistently outstanding, with the jalapeño sausage being a family favorite. We've tried nearly every meat on the menu and never been disappointed. The sides and desserts have that authentic homemade flavor. Friends and family always want to return, even after trying other BBQ places.

Kent blacks BBQ was horrible on 8/8/24. Fifty bucks for 2 plates and the food was inedible. Their BBQ sauce was watery and had no flavor. Skip this one
Another Black's review. Another trip to bbq capital to sample bbq in Lockhart, TX.
Once again, Black's beats Chisholm, Smitty's and Terry Black's on this trip.
Last time Kreuz and even Babs lost. Always order turkey, brisket and a link. The others in our party agree with me. Also ate at Saltlick in Roundrock the day before. Very good. Might be tied with Black's.

I had to go to Lockhart for something today and figured I would check out the original. The brisket was divine, the black eyed peas needed seasoning but were very good after a little salt and pepper. Hank Williams song playing when I walked in, followed by Clint Black.

Been here a few times… the other times were better. Today We ordered moist brisket that was not moist. Was actually more on the dry side so I was disappointed, especially at a 33/pound price. The turkey could have been smoked a little more- it was bland. The sides were good! We had the mac and cheese and yams. Bread is on a self serve counter to grab what you want. I always try tea at bbq places and I made sure to fill my cup up again before I left.

This is a wonderful place for BBQ. There is so much history as this is the original location of Black’s BBQ. The staff is super friendly, the food is to die for, and the atmosphere is fantastic! If you ever find yourself in Lockhart, TX you have to make a stop at Blacks. You won’t be disappointed.
