“Ate lunch today at Barbs BQ. We drove in from Port Neches to enjoy this amazing food. The brisket was melt in your mouth, the pork ribs were some of the best I’ve had, the moist smoked turkey was Devine and the jalapeño cheese fajita sausage was the best I’ve tasted. If you’re within an hour of Lockhart, make the trip. Your tastebuds will thank you!”

“I swung by Terry Black’s this morning to pick up a big order of barbecue to take to friends in California, because they need to know what the very best barbecue in Texas tastes like. ❤️⁣ ⁣ Chad, Sharon, and Kait were so helpful behind the counter, making sure everything was wrapped perfectly for a travel cooler and ready to survive a flight, complete with reheating instructions for when it arrived.⁣ ⁣ What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. They took the time to visit with me, answered all of my questions, and made the whole experience feel personal instead of rushed. We ended up having some great conversations, and they even let us sample a few things before we decided exactly what to order.⁣ ⁣ The food is phenomenal, but the people are what make you want to come back. Texas barbecue is about more than brisket, it’s about generosity and making people feel welcome, and this team absolutely nailed it. Can’t wait to share a little taste of Texas with my California friends.”

“my husband took me to this restaurant last night for my birthday to have the prime rib dinner. everything was delicious the service was warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was excellent for a date night. The only improvement could have been a little more crisp on the fries. The two lady servers were fantastic. We will be back!”

“Adorable, charming, and super friendly. Also very dog friendly, allows dogs inside and outside. This is clearly a popular spot with the locals and as non-locals, we felt very welcomed. The wine was great, and we appreciated the NA beer options too.”

“This is a classic old school beer bar. Clean restrooms (yes, that is first), comfortable atmosphere, AMI jukebox, pool tables and you can smoke out of the elements. One of the few bars left like that. Great place! Great location! Great people! BUBBA'S IN LOCKHART is GREAT!”

“Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and incredible staff. Had the green tea with blueberry puree as well as an iced decaf cold brew with banana bread cold foam. Both were excellent with perfect sweetness level for me. (I’m usually a 50-75% sweet kind of person)”

“First time trying Texas BBQ and we loved Riley’s sliced brisket and pork ribs! Riley had us try both including his two sauces- all are excellent! For the sides we tried pea salad and coleslaw- YUMMY! Next time we go through Lockhart we will be back! Thank you Riley, pleasure to meet you.”

“I accidentally came across Panaderia Los Angeles Mi Arcangel, a small local bakery in the center of Lockhart, Texas, and I’m so glad I did.

The owner was super friendly and introduced me to the different flavors. It seemed like he might also be the baker, and he was clearly very proud of his pastries, which made the experience even better.

The bread and pastries were delicious, soft, and fluffy. I forgot the exact names of the items I got, but I picked up three: one without any filling, which was my favorite, one with cream inside, and one with chocolate. The first two had just come out of the oven, so they were still warm.

The prices were also very reasonable. I really love supporting small local businesses like this, and I hope they keep doing what they’re doing and get more attention. That’s one of the main reasons I enjoy writing reviews for small local businesses and hopefully help promote places that deserve it.

One small suggestion: I hope the owner considers remodeling the interior to make it look a bit more modern. It’s a very large space with a lot of potential. Overall, this was a great little find.”

“Pretty good shrimp tacos with fresh, well-seasoned shrimp and warm, soft corn tortillas. The toppings were crisp, the sauces had spice, and portions were okay for the price. Somewhat fast service and authentic taste.”

“Although the food was very good, their customer service was TERRIBLE! The woman behind the meat counter was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered in a food establishment. In Lockhart, Tx , there are at least 10 other bbq restaurants, so, people definitely have choices! We were visiting Lockhart and chose Krews from another recommendation. We ordered approximately $50 in meats and she threw 4 slices of bread up on our meat order. One of the pieces was the “heel”. She knew we wanted to make a couple of sandwiches and when I asked her for another piece of bread, instead of the “heel” , she proceeded to tell me that there was nothing wrong with it. She argued with me about that piece of bread until she finally threw it in the trash and threw several other pieces up on our meats. Based on our experience, we wouldn’t return.”

“Took my visiting sister and her husband to Smitty’s , the walls are black with smoke, fires were ablaze , air was heavy with the smell of cooking meat and what looked like post oak . We had ribs , sausages and brisket that was cooked to perfection . I couldn’t have made a better impression of true Texas BBQ !”

Man were these baskets great, I got the catfish basket and the shrimp basket and they tasted great, the seasoned batter and the fish we're just🤤 the shrimp was amazing and sides were good too. We picked up a dozen hot spicy pork tamales and a dozen frozen pork tamales, can’t wait to devour them all. “My husband and I will be back, whether in the area again OR just because it's the BEST Mexican food we've ever had. The chips (fresh and hot), the salsa... finally found a restaurant with amazing salsa, the beer was ice cold, the margarita (so good!), to the food.... the best both of us have ever had... (and we ❤️ Mexican), so we've eaten our share. Definitely recommend this restaurant! Almost forgot to mention, the staff was friendly and fast.”

“Been living in Lockhart since 2022 and finally made our way here. Food was tasty and delicious. Smaller sized restaurant that has maybe 15 tables and booths. Cozy feel to it.

I had the fish tacos which were amaIng. Wife wanted crawfish, but she opted for something else as the crawfish was $13.50 per pound. A bit steep for crawfish when other places are in the single digits. Son had the garlic Parmesan bone-in wings which he loved.”
