“There is a lovely atmosphere here. The bartender (Reuben) came over and chatted to us and then told us a story about one of the drinks. When my daughter went to order a second drink she changed her order halfway through and Reuben made it for her adding 4 cherries(!) which made her really happy. Then later on the owner came over and said hello and told us a little bit about the place. I would really recommend this place, me and my family really enjoyed it.“
“We started eating here when I was pregnant with my daughter…we still eat here today. She’s 17. They have one of the best chicken fried steaks in Lockhart. And yes, I tried it on recommendation from another customer. Yum!!! I love the fajitas and nachos. Hubby gets the Guadalajara plate. The fajitas are delicious, so are the enchiladas.. a fact, I don’t think I’ve found anything here we don’t like, if not love. Especially the salsa! ?️“

“A handful of my gal pals and I make it a point to go to the Best Little Wine and Books shop in Lockhart once a month. And now that Poke in the Rear is there, it adds to the pleasure. The food is fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced for what you're served. Add to that, Kaye Askins can pair a wonderful libation to go with any dish. Perfection.“

“Live music and friendly folks on staff during our recent visit. If you're in the vicinity and want to stop in for a drink, they have a wide array from which to choose. The live music stage is set up in the far back corner, so you have a good view from anywhere in the place. Decor reminds me of a friendly neighborhood coffee shop. Parking in Lockhart is free on the street, so coming from Austin, it was almost a surreal step back in time. People in Lockhart must enjoy the slower, friendlier pace of life. Looking forward to next time.“
