“We hosted our son’s wedding welcome party at Willow Lake Watering Hole and Mercantile in May 2025, and it was absolutely perfect. Owners Greg and Chloe went above and beyond to bring our vision to life for a 230-person celebration. The Jesse Stratton Band (with a fiddler added at the bride’s request!) played amazing music, the twinkle-lit outdoor pavilion was magical, and the bar service was top-notch all night. As out-of-towners, we needed local help, and Greg truly delivered. He connected us with a rideshare driver (Chris) and even arranged late-night pizza delivery from Marco’s when nothing else was open. His response? “I’d want someone to do this for my daughter.” This wasn't just a venue, it felt like being welcomed by good neighbors who genuinely cared. Thanks to Greg, Chloe, and their team, our weekend in Wimberley was unforgettable.“

“Just went to Longleaf for the first time and I already can't wait to go back and try more of the menu! The food was delicious and the service was well timed. Definitely recommend trying them out if you're in the area.“

“An authentic Texas experience. You never quite know who will be playing in the backroom, but you can bet on the Lone Stars being cold. Doesn’t get much better than that.
I’m sure if the walls of Devil’s Backbone Tavern could talk, they’d be sworn to NDA to protect the innocent and the guilty. That’s high praise.“
“Best street tacos hands down! I live in WV, and make a point to get some tacos from the Shanty Tiki Bar whenever I’m in TX! 😋“

“Easily one of my favorite spots in San Marcos
Balcón Comedor y Bar totally blew me away. The vibe is chill but stylish — great music, great energy, and the kind of place you could post up for hours with friends and a couple of margaritas.
We started with the carne asada fries and elote asado, and honestly… they might be the best I’ve had. The fries were loaded (in the best way) and the elote had the perfect balance of spice, lime, and cheese. Just unreal.
I went with the al pastor taco and the Cali Burrito — and wow. The burrito was massive, cheesy, and packed with carne asada and fries inside (basically everything you crave at once). The taco had just the right kick, with a sweet touch from the pineapple. You can tell they put real love into every dish.
What really made the night was Javier, the owner — he came by to check on us, and you could tell how much he cares about the food and the people. Super genuine guy, and that vibe trickles down to the whole staff.
If you’re in San Marcos and love modern Mexican food, this place is a must. Great drinks, amazing food, and a team that actually makes you feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back.
Tip: Come hungry. You’re gonna want to try everything.“
