“If you’re looking for a relaxing place to listen to live music, this is the place. It is an outdoor venue so be prepared for the weather. When it is cooler out, they have fires going so it’s not a problem. They don’t serve food but there is a food truck that has items available. I haven't tried that yet so can’t review the food. The bar is well stocked, but they do not have table service so you do need to go to the bar for drinks. A great spot in Gruene TX.“
“Great dive bar out in the middle of nowhere. Dark, rustic and old school inside and the outdoor patio out back was neat as well. We just wanted to stop by for a quick drink on our way to Gruene just to say we went. Didn't stay long but had a Crown on the rocks and wife had a beer, 10 bucks for both. Can't go many places and say that. Bartender was great as well , good service. Definitely will come back again .“
“MyPOV-A very beautiful and unique house that is quietly tucked in, that serves a wide variety of wine and bier. The atmosphere is fun yet relaxing. I do wish they had more food options aside from just cheese, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the small wonders of this place. Just eat before you go yo!!!!! Highly recommend trying this place out!!;)“
“This place was fun for a nice cold beer, popcorn, and some A/C. Beer was pretty cheap, and the pool table was only 50 cents. Clearly an older local establishment, but the restrooms were clean and spacious. Cash only (ATM is available). Would definitely hang out there again!“
“Love this local place! Great live music, food trucks, events and drink specials! Bar has a great drink menu and has best prices in town that I’ve seen!Everyone is friendly and you just want to relax and stay a while! When you go, ask for the Thorogood special! A beer and shot for $10!!“
“Love this place! Great people serving great frozen drinks! My wife and I love the River Road, New Braunfels Sunset and Cactus Juice! Great drinks for a reasonable price too! I just love that it has a drive through. Now that's innovation!“
“Usually swing by Billy's while out riding on the weekends for drink or two.... Came out on January 12th, 2024 to listen to Haywire, SATX for their Debut Show at Billy's.... Band was Great, Drinks were on point, but with the doors open it was only warm in the middle of the bar where the only ceiling heater was..... Other than that we had an Awesome time listening to Haywire, Hope they play here again......“
“Can't believe I've been living in town for two years and didn't know about this joint. An absolute must stop for awesome live music. You should make sure you try this place out when you're ready to dance all night. I highly recommend this dancehall when you are in town.“
“This underground speakeasy was an awesome place to go for a drink after spending the day in Gruene. The drinks are great quality, and the service is super attentive. The only thing I would note, is that there is very limited seating. You are not guaranteed a seat, but you are guaranteed to have a good time if you enjoy a good historical feel. Drinks are not cheap, but that’s how you know it will be worth it. The speakeasy is NOT kid friendly, but there is an are above the speakeasy where minors are allowed.“
“Excellent food and service, as always. Because we had a large group, we were seated in the back area which I didn't really care for. That room wasn't decorated as nicely and wasn't well lit so it wasn't as cheerful or enjoyable as the main dining room. I'll be sure to specify in the future.“
“We discovered Off the Clock a couple years ago and have been stopping by ever since! The owners are some of the kindest people we’ve met in New Braunfels. On top of that, all of the patrons are super friendly and if you walk in as a stranger you leave as a friend. Plus big bonus for us is that we get to bring our fur babies with us! :) Thanks for always making us feel welcome and letting us enjoy a relaxing drink with our pups!“
“Went here for a date, we wanted oysters, they had a good selection of different cooking methods for oysters but they didn’t have different types of oysters. The service was ok, sat at the bar due to no one greeting us when we walked in.First time being here was a little awkward cause we didn’t know you seated yourself and no one told us that so we just found a spot open at the bar. Wish we were greeted when we came in to at least know what we should do.Parking: Have to find an open spot on the square had to walk a little bit due to no spots available around the restaurant.“
“They may deserve 5 stars, but honestly, I wasn't there that long. Drinks are mixed well, beer is reasonable, and clientele friendly. Staff was accommodating and restrooms and seating areas were clean and tidy. Would have stayed longer, but my driver wanted karaoke. The band was just getting started and the energy was positive.“
“Nice sports bar. Food was ok. Dynamite shrimp were tiny and had no sauce. Ok spice but not dynamite. Side salad was tasty. Staff was over worked as it was a busy Saturday night with a ballgame on the multiple tvs. Place has 2 huge dining rooms. Front one was full. Rear one was closed. Have eaten here before and will return.“
“Great atmosphere. Can drink inside or outside with corn hole, or watch the skiers. If you're into some Super Nintendo they have a system to play on.Emily takes care of everyone and makes it a fun place to hang out. Thursday pint night is a great time.“
“Decent drinks including a very large selection of "martinis" (though they are pretty far from the classic formula). Lots of events each week going on so check their Facebook page. The music is a bit loud IMO; it can be really hard to hear someone right next to you if you're trying to talk.“
“If you are looking for charm, creativity, and a place that makes everyone feel like they are at home, consider an event at The Villa at Gruene! The staff is marvelous, not only in their ability to foster your creation, but they take care of everyone with care and concern. Casey and her staff are the best!“
“If you have been to the original downtown location, this is definitely a different vibe. And I love it! Nice outside area where local musicians perform. Bar tenders can make a great dirty Martini and old fashioned. Lots of fun activities. We went to the Harry Potter Trivia and had a blast. They had thened drinks too. I saw they are doing a Disney trivia soon. They've hosted piano duels, karaoke and dirty bingo. Richie the owner is hilarious and he knows what he's doing.“
“I loved this place. The historic building, atmosphere, and surrounding area make this a first choice stop when you’re nearby. We ordered the fire roasted chicken, beef tenderloin sandwich, and shrimp po boy (the special of the day). The chicken had a TON of flavor and was cooked perfectly (which is very hard to do), the shrimp po boy was seasoned expertly, and although the beef tenderloin sandwich was delicious, we ordered it medium rare and got it close to well done (since it was tenderloin, it was still very tender but just a little bit dry), but it was seasoned well and excellent. We also had their famous onion rings, which were very good, but I wish they were slightly more crispy. I would go here again and again.“
