Good food, good coffee, and good people!
What a cool place! Not only is their coffee and pastries delicious, but their prepared items are great too. Their pimento cheese was yummy. The Baristas sure know how to make a great Latte. They also have some neat items for sale. I purchased some coffee mugs I haven’t seen anywhere else and I love them. You can pot plants there too! I highly recommend Thorn & Bred while you’re in Lockhart.
Thorn & Bred sees me practically daily. They have my favorite espresso fizz coffee drink (espresso with sparkling water…TRY IT) and the brunch on the weekends is SO GOOD.

Thorn & Bred Mercantile in Lockhart, TX is a delightful coffee shop, eatery, and plant store. This fairly new pop up restaurant offers excellent customer service, with staff making guests feel like honored guests. The food expertly prepared includes an egg sandwich, a grits bowl with a kick, and a potato-latke ready to prepare dish that was delicious when sautéed in olive oil. Breakfast tacos and the latke dish are also wonderful options. For drinks, both lattes and matcha are must haves, along with an iced latte in oat milk, a cold brew with chai winter special, and a gingerbread latte that is delicious but a bit sweet. The coffee shop is cute, cozy, and a great place to sit back, relax, and enjoy. Located in downtown Lockhart with plenty of parking, it is a wonderful stop right outside of Austin for a good bite and caffeine.
