Based on the reviews, Herm's Smokehouse is a driveup hidden next to Harvey's gas station, but it is well worth the effort to discover. All food is made fresh and can be sold out late in the day. The meat is incredibly juicy, tender, and full of that authentic smoky goodness. The Taste of Herms was the perfect choice to get a feel for the food. It is hard to beat their masterfully smoked brisket, sausage, and chicken. Grandma's Rice and beans were a nice touch. The barbacoa was amazing — full of flavor, tender, and cooked just right. The brisket is in the top 5. The carnitas and barbacoa can be sold out by noon. The service was great, with attentive and kind staff, and the food was great. Good prices for great food, with generous portions. The only complaint is why they do not already have a brick and mortar sit in restaurant with food this good. It is a must try.
