The Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant is a great place to fill you up, but kind of expensive as well, because of the rise of food items, especially how they make it and trying out their Tex-Mex foods like the Grande, that will feel your day, without eating anything today.

We really appreciate the service here! As a couple who doesn’t eat pork (this means we avoid lard…) the server really went above and beyond and went to check with both the chef, kitchen manager, and personally checked labels himself. That said the food was also amazing! I got chicken with the corn cream sauce and my husband got the combo fajitas. We also enjoyed a delicious tres leche.
Also highly recommend picking up the 100$ on gift cards at Costco for 80$! 😉

Has been one of my favorites in the LBB since the 90s but the last two times the cooks are slipping. Please update training to include instruction on cutting the (skirt steak) beef fajita meat across the grain.

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but we stopped going because the last 2-3 times we went, we had moldy or bad food. I reported it to a manager, who called me back and apologized, but apparently they did nothing, as the chain has now filed for bankruptcy and I read an article that said they had over 30 reports of moldy or bad food. Obviously management is not doing a good job
Food was outstanding we loved it! 😋

It was gross and overpriced.
Abuelo’s at 4401 82nd had 34 violations.
Salsa was above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees.
Cooked rice and shredded chicken were not at least 135 degrees.
The inside of the ice machine in the patio area was dirty
Three pans of refried beans were expired and had visual mold on them.
Other items were held past their use-by date including, black beans, cooked ground beef and refried beans.
The soda nozzles were visibly dirty.
Multiple utensils and food contact surfaces were dirty, including: spoons, plates, a lemon slicer, can opener, and cutting board.
Cutting boards were damaged and a tub was cracked.
There was a strainer in the hand sink. Hand sinks are for hand washing only to prevent cross contamination.
The dishwasher was not sanitizing.
The waste line under the soda machine was leaking waste water onto the floor.
There was an accumulation of water in the mop sink. The person in charge was aware of the issue and told the inspector a pipe was broken.
The inspector notes, due to the number and the nature of the violations - management did not show proper food safety knowledge
After the health inspection, I won't dare to go there again
