“P.F. Chang has long been a guilty pleasure, and I have dined with them in many locations across the US. They are the rare exception to my rule against chain eateries, but, sometimes those chains get it right. And P.F. Chang is one of those few.So when I found myself recently in Lubbock and pondering where to eat lunch, I simply could not get excited about anything other than Chang’s, which I can’t get in Amarillo. Heck, we even saw fit to send their downscale Pei Wei packing a few years ago. But I digress.I arrived not long after the 11am opening when there were only a handful of people there, and took my place at the bar where I could have not only a great view, but also easier access to waitstaff should I need anything. Dining alone makes sitting at the bar a great option.I started with a Lagunitas IPA, a very good old friend from the craft beer community. I followed with the Chili Garlic Green Beans as my app. These have long been a fave, and they did not disappoint. There’s just enough heat to activate the sinuses, always a desired state if you like heat. They were cooked to perfection.For my main I went with the Ma Po Tofu, which features crispy tofu, sweet-spicy red chili sauce, and steamed broccoli. Once again, it was spot on and absolutely perfect, as it should be regardless of whether you’re a chain. And at 490 calories for the main and 260 calories for the app, this was a bargain as far as diets are concerned. Never mind that I couldn’t eat but half of it, and toted the rest home for dinner.It was all good, and I re-created the green beans at home later in the week, a pleasant reminder of another excellent meal at a most excellent restaurant.Vegetarian options: There are numerous vegetarian and vegan options. You won’t go hungry here!”
“Best takoyaki I’ve had so far!. And I’ve tried it in multiple places in Houston and Austin. What I noticed about the place is the staff is friendly and attentive. It was busy when I went and each person was active and helping out to ease each other’s workload. The shoyu ramen was good as well.”
“I recently spent two nights in Lubbock, with the express purpose of visiting every brewery in town. For those keeping score, I made it to all six. But I must confess that when I typed “Frost Brewhouse” into Google Maps and started following directions, I was surprised to find myself in a rather nondescript strip mall. Further muddying the waters was that, in spite of signage for the brewery, I still managed to go in the wrong door, winding up in an African restaurant next door.Oh well. As the brew dude told me, it happens all the time.I loved the simplicity of the operation. Completely unassuming nor pretentious, it was clear that the chill cerebral vibe was the appeal. In fact, I asked who their clientele was, and he said graduate students and professors. At last! I had found my tribe!I sampled three beers, and then went in for the kill with a pint of my favorite. First off, I sipped wee glasses of Study Break, a coffee blonde (4.5% AbV; 10 IBU), followed by Mistbourne Hazy Wheated Session (4.5% ABV; 70 IBU), and KFM IPA, an English-style IPA (7.8% ABV; 55 IBU). They were all amazing, and the KFM is especially good when everyone and their brother is trying to out-hop one another with their doubles and triples. Their English IPA was delightful from front to finish, a never elicited a hoppy beer frown for being a tad bit too forward.But the winner in the house was the Study Break. Show me a coffee-infused beer, and I will show you my favorite without reconsideration or regret. This was amazing. Any coffee beer should never exceed 5% coffee, lest it become “not beer.” The coffee notes did not overshadow the beer, producing a delightfully aromatic and tasty beverage that got my vote for top billing. I could drink coffee beer all day, and this coming from a guy who routinely chugs some pretty heady IPAs.I loved the atmosphere of the brewery. It doesn’t have to be trendy speedy or any of that. Just keep it basic, and brew good beer. These guys do both.”

Nothing overdone yet classy.For Easter it was fun to spot the Easter eggs.The fact that we had to make reservations shows its popularity.For brunch I had Migas and the sauce for the Carne Guisada was the best I’d had in 20+ years. “Tasted their craft beers - they have great Hazy’s. Also really enjoyed their two non-alcoholic beers(one hazy one IPA) The non-alcoholic hazy was so good I didn’t miss the alcohol -that’s a first. They have a few snacks but starting at about 5 pm The Escondido Grill pulled up and we tried the brisket sandwich, the deviled eggs topped with brisket and bbq sauce, the beans, potatoes salad and creamed corn. All great. The weather was beautiful and we sat outside. Also, the team at Two Docs is excellent. They were attentive in the best way and happily served beer and then ice water at the end. We enjoyed the whole experience.”

“We had lunch here today. We got a slice of pizza and cannoli and a small drink. Let me just say I’ve had a lot of different margarita pizzas but this is one of the best ones I’ve ever had! This put other piece of joints in Lubbock to shame because that’s how good it is. The Cannoli was also absolutely amazing. It’s a true real cannoli. Also, the service was amazing.”

“Of the many hundreds of craft breweries I have visited around the US, only a handful have been owned by demographic minorities. When I find one, I am particularly excited, because I want to see more than just the predominant demo—white guys—creating and partaking of the brewer’s art.But when I saw Mano Negra (“Black Hand”) online among other Lubbock breweries, I was thrilled. And because I was in town to visit all six breweries, there was no way I’d let this one slip by. In fact, I made it out to their location on Lubbock’s southwest side on my first night in town. Mano Negra is Lubbock’s only Latino-owned brewery. Of the nation’s nearly 10,000 breweries, only 2.2% are Hispanic- or Latino-owned.While the tiny brewery had only four house beers on tap, they also had a couple from my Amarillo favorite, Pondaseta. Since I can get those at home any time, I opted for the Yagrumo Coffee Ale (6% ABV), a delightfully refreshing cream ale with a flavorful shot of coffee. I could drink this all night.Since restraint is the better part of valor, I had only three glasses spread over a few hours, and bought a 32-ounce glass growler of it to take back home. There was an interesting mix of clientele, ranging from three guys on my left interested primarily in the Rangers/Cubs game, and a few university coeds to the right sipping house-made sangrias and munching on chicharrones.And for that brief evening, I enjoyed patronizing a small place I expect to hear a lot more about. This was excellent beer.”

I am in a wheelchair, and there was plenty of ADA parking and we did not have to wait to be seated. And we were seated at a table, which is optimal for me. It took quite some time for us to get a few take out containers and our final bill. Overall it was an ok experience, but not an overwhelming one.Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is wheelchair accessible as far as I can tell. I have visited twice in the past year and have always been seated promptly at a table. I am not sure about the bathroom as I have not had the occasion to use it, however.”

When I checked it the menu online it looked like they had vegetarian soup options but I did not see them on the in person menu. So I went with the pan fried sliced noodles with veggies. While there was egg in the dish I do with they had more protein options such as edamame or tofu. Another dishes did have edamame so I think this is something they could easily do. It was a large portion, you can probably share with someone. I enjoyed the chili oil, and the noodles were nice and thick. If would def check this place out again if I am in the area.Vegetarian options: Check the dry noodle section they have two noodle options that can be ordered with only veggie. They also have a vegetarian egg roll.”

The staff there recognize us when we stop by and are always open to trying out new concoctions with us. Pumpkin eggnog shake probably has a note with my name on it in their menu at this point since we kept trying more and more pumpkin to get it to taste exactly like what I was looking for. “The first time here is a good food place. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with green chile, my daughter ordered the cheese burger without the bun, and a side salad. My wife had a cheese burger with a side of onion rings. Everything was very good, so good that even the sight of the food made it so tempting. Jimenez Tortilleria and Taqueria was deemed the #1 place in Lubbuck for breakfast tacos by Yelp, so we had to try it.1. Quality of food - of the 5 different types of burritos that we purchased, 4 of the 5 hit the spot. The fifth type was not included in our order. They gave us the wrong burritos. The barbacoa burrito was a 10. The carne guisada taco was outstanding. However, they forgot the cheese. The Bean and Chorizo was great. Real Mexican Chorizo. Nice and spicy. The potato and egg was real good. Then came the wrong part of the order. I was given a burrito with egg and onions. Not good.2. Service - Had our order been correct, a simple 10 would have been given. Overall, the service was great. Things happen.3. Cost -- For today's times, prices were good. See my pictures regarding their menu.4. Sweet bread or Pan Dulce -- each piece we bought was fresh, tasted great, and we would purchase more.Overall, removing the wrong food, everything else was well worth the visit.4.5 of 5.Thanks for a great breakfast.. Luckily, we had purchased more food than we needed because we wanted to taste a variety of items.Finally, they are 9" burritos.”

Our decision to choose the bone-in fried chicken with the gumbo and fried zucchini as the sides was a great choice. We also ordered the Nashville hot chicken and the kid's chicken fried steak strips. Everything was fried amazingly. All of the meats were tender and fried to a good crisp with the right amount of seasoning. The mashed potatoes with jalapeño bacon gravy were delicious ?However, the music was too loud, and the establishment was cold inside. Every time the furnace kicked on, the unit was loud and noisy, so I felt like it was too much going on.Parking: You can either park in the street or in the designated parking lot.”

“I used to order my coffee from a company out of state. Although the beans were roasted when you ordered, I’d still have to wait almost a week before it would arrive to me. So I love having a local roaster here in town no more lengthy waits. Beans are always fresh and have a fantastic flavor no matter which roast it is. Including the fact they are well priced! If you enjoy making lattes or flavored drinks their syrups and sauces are excellent as well. Amazing customer service. Tierras Planas has been hands down my favorite place to get my coffee.”

“There’s plenty of on the street parking in the area. It’s on Broadway in downtown Lubbock. It’s got a nice ambiance inside. They have a nice selection of their own in house beers. They also have some delicious cocktails. The food menu is limited. I’ve been there a few times and the food is good bar style. The dress is work casual and it’s usually busy from the work crowd getting off around 5pm. The servers are very nice. The bartenders are great and have a lot of knowledge on their in-house beers. Occasionally they will have live music too. It’s a relaxing place to land at the end of the day.”

And, the starter warned us about snakes but did not see any! The greens are in great shape. The Clubhouse is nice with good food service and very friendly Pro Shop staff. The public can make tee times after noon. The carts are new EZGO and are very nice. Play this tract!”

I had the carne guisada, and my wife had the huevos rancheros. Bathrooms are clean as well as the dining area. The salsa is good but thin and kinda watery. The flour tortillas are fresh, so they have to be eaten pretty quickly. Otherwise, they get hard on the edges. Very good prices for the amount of food you get. It's worth a try, many good choices of food. The rice is ok, the beans are good but the carne guisada is great, so tender.”

“We came here and ordered take out for dinner around 5:30 on 2/15. We were warmly welcomed, and when we informed them that we had never been there, they gave us a very thorough explanation of the entire menu. Everyone was very kind and helpful! We ordered the chicken inasal, the pork sisig, the pork liempo, and the halo halo. And when we went to leave, someone ran out and gave us a free kabob to try as well! The kabob was sweet and juicy and tender. The liempo was quite spicy with lots of raw onions and chewy bits here and there. I loved it, but would not recommend it to anyone who struggles with food textures. The chicken was out of this world smokey deliciousness. It was beautifully cooked and juicy with great flavor throughout the meat. Simply wonderful. The sisig was juicy and slightly sweet with grilled flavors as well. It was tender and very addictive. Then we finished off the meal with the halo halo. The purple ice cream and the flan on top were absolutely scrumptious. The chocolate straw and crunchy cereal on top brought an added dimension of texture. The shaved coconut ice was delicately sweet and flavorful. Then the bottom became syrupy with what seemed like fruit cocktail with white beans. I really liked the halo halo as a whole, but the beans threw me off. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and had a good time!”

“How can it be that I have not written a review for Narrow Bar yet? I mean 12 of the 20 pictures are from yours truly, so clearly I like the place. Narrow Bar is on point when it comes to their cocktails. IMHO they have the best Chilton in Lubbock. If you know you know. However where they really shine is with their focus on offering a wide selection of Bourbons and Scotch. They offer the usual suspects, but they also offer several allocations. Did I mentioned Narrow Bar also offers Clase Azul Repesado, Anjeno and Plata (I think that is the other one they have). Their salad is also excellent with or without protein added, however I recommend getting the dressing on the side.”

“We chose The Reserve for Sunday brunch because we slept late and wanted to avoid a wait. We were able to get reservations 15 minutes from when we made them and arrived just in time. We both got omelets, and they were delicious, oozing with cheese. My side of oatmeal was also excellent, made better with the fresh blueberries our server offered. Best of all, the coffee was wonderful and the service attentive but not overbearing. We come here for dinner a lot and will now be returning for breakfast.”

Seems like there is only one real manager left I believe his name is Lem he is there all the time and does a great job. Something just seems different I go there quite a bit it is crazy to me that they are out of everything all the time. This place used to take a little bit for food but at this point for anything it takes an hour minimum. From what I can tell the staff members do pretty good just seems extremely under staffed and under funded.I do love the place though it is really nice to just have a drink and talk to whoever serves you!Just a little sad that nothing is ever stocked even the beer fridge that is one of their selling points is half full most of the time.”

“Great place for American style rolls in Lubbock! Their menu is massive - probably 100 different rolls. The filet was well cooked as were the scallops, quite delicious. The fried rice was average and underwhelming. One of the specialty rolls is enough food for the average diner. The edamame were undercooked/hard. Service was decent. The ambiance was a bit dissapointing - super dirty koi pond in the front that needs some cleaning and care. Also, a slight sewage smell was present in the restaurant. All that said, I will definitely be going again! I'll stick with American style sushi rolls as that is what really stuck out to my party as the best option!”
“We have ordered from Capital Pizza for a few years now. They are our favorite in town, but tonight I ordered delivery because we were having a party in our home. Pizza came on time, but we were missing the most important pizza, the CHEESE pizza, the only one the picky kids will eat! “Everything was good till it was time to pay they have daily specials one of the specials said $6.99 it was a breakfast item breakfast is serviced all day. We were charged regular price for the special when I brought this to the waitress attention she told me it was for breakfast only, I told her breakfast is all day and it on the board she said they forgot to erase it, I told her they should still honor it since that's what it says, she became argumentive and said she's just a waitress she can't change it. She did say she will ask the owner son but she didn't know what the big deal was about and that I was inconviencing him. She did get him he came out he was super nice and said they forgot to erase it but he would give me that price, which I greatly appreciated but the waitress never came out to apologize or anything for her attitude at checkout. “I’ve enjoyed dinner here every now and again. The atmosphere is always nice and the service is good. If you’re lucky to have Bella as your waitress then you’ll be in perfect hands. About the only issue I’ve had has been the seating, the hostess don’t jot down names during busy nights and they pick whoever they see first so that’s a little annoying but not enough that I won’t come back. I’ll just stand in front of the hostess table to make sure I’m picked first :))”

When I go there I always look for him and see if any tables are available in his area. Please give this man a shout out and some recognition.Food was hot and fresh and plentiful (except fried fish but that goes quickly), food area cleaned and maintained.The only thing negative I can say about this place is the restrooms need a THOROUGH cleansing, maybe an overhaul. It stinks and I feel grossed out when using the facilities. I’ve used truck stops that were better maintained. I get it no one likes to clean the restrooms especially after someone else. Edit: returned a week later the restrooms were noticeably cleaner.”

“Amazing! For as simple as fried chicken is a lot of places can mess it up... but not here. They're doing it right! Chicken is crispy yet light, meat is tender and juicy, and the sides have some love put into them for sure. The chips and queso was awesome and when we ran out of chips they were happy to give us a fresh batch without us even asking or charging us more. Our kids loved it and ate almost everything on their plate, which is a major win. The green beans were insanely good but all of the sides looked incredible. Lots of different condiments to go with the chicken. If I were to have any negative criticism it would be that I thought the chicken could've benefited from a little more flaky salt out of the fryer. Then again, my taste hasn't been the same since I've had Covid 3 times. Lol Overall a 9/10 for me. Awesome CLEAN atmosphere, great food, and good service.”

The person who took my order at the drive thru was fantastic, the person who handled my payment was very nice, and looked me in the eye when engaging me in a friendly conversation while she handled the transaction. The young man at the food pick up window also very nice. My food was given to me quickly, and it was dang near perfect. It was cooked properly, and it was made properly, meaning everything was stacked the way it should be, nothing hanging out one side and barely on the sandwich. The taste was fantastic! Made my morning, and I’ll definitely be back.Parking: There was plenty of parking available, and the parking lot was very clean.”
