Has amazing food; but are closing down after 50 years of wonderful service.

I always get the tortilla soup and white queso. I honestly haven't tried alot of the menu.

I am very sad to post this review. For the past several decades El Chico has been our "Go To" restaurant. We would go when we had grandparents in the hospital and we gathered at El Chicos as a family. Good times. Unfortunately, a year ago the owners passed away and someone else (the son, I think) is running the show. We came here on a Saturday night and half the restaurant was closed due to a lack of staff. The guy who was working the front acted like he didn't want us there. In the bathroom only one toilet was working in the mens room and the womens bathroom stunk. We were very sad to see the decline of this place we have enjoyed for many years.

This food is delicious. I wish the hot sauce was less chunky but other than that it was very good

Great food, they always treat us right. Great friendly staff, they get the food out real quick too. Been going here for years and not going to stop anytime soon. God bless.

The food was good but the waitress we had was rude and was rushing us to eat. We had just gotten our food and not even 5min after she asked if we wanted desert. She wouldnt say your welcome after we told her thank you. All they need is nicer waitress.

So sad. This is our second time here. The first time was two years ago so I'm writing this review to remind myself not to come back. There must be no Mexicans in the kitchen because any Mexican knows you can't serve pinto beans after the liquid on the beans turns white (see photo). Our waiter told us it was his first week- so I won't rate him. But when he forgot the drinks for the table next to us, the manager bumped up their order and served them before us even though we had ordered before they arrived. Which is the choice of the manager, but when they left they came by our table and apologized for getting their food first. Awkward... We skipped Chuys and The Plaza because they had a 30+ minute wait but now we realize their food and service is worth the wait. There was no wait at El Chico and now we know why.

Maybe I should of checked yelp before I went here...well what can I say it taste like hospital or cafeteria food I got a enchilada plate and added a chile relleno that they charged me 4.99 for it was so small The queso taste straight out of a can. The salsa taste like tomato sauce I added salt and pepper to it and still couldn't find it tasty. Long story short I was not impressed and do not expect to return or make the mistake of trying it out again the total for my entire meal was 17 $18 what a joke

Wow, I don't know if they hired a really good chef or what, but dinner was exceptionally delicious last night!!! Really good server too!

Was really good. Nice waitress named Valerie. Food/plates hot.

Really quiet and boring atmosphere. Doesn't have any music playing. Service was decent, but it doesn't make up for what's lacking.

Went in spontaneously for lunch. I needed quick food to go. They were very quick, nice and accommodating. The food was good too! And they gave me chips and salsa for free!

Best service of any place I've been so far. Very accommodating. Prices are very reasonable. Food is very fabulously fantastic.
