I recently moved back to Lubbock. I had a craving for a breakfast burrito & remembered Josie’s. Well, after this morning, I wish I could completely erase this establishment from my memory. I ordered 2 breakfast plates. When I arrived home, I opened the containers to find 2 scoops of potatoes, a scrambled egg, MAYBE 2 (definitely not 3), 4 corn tortillas & a salsa cup that contained the canned guisada meat. Very disappointing as the eggs & potatoes had no flavor, whatsoever, & the joke of a serving (of carne) had a couple of pieces of meat in the gravy. $20 for an inedible breakfast. Not to mention the attitude coming from the employees. OH, The best part was- an employee was putting salsa in to-go containers right across from the drive thru. Flies were landing all, over the open container. The salsa bin was sitting on a chair to make it easier to scoop out into the to-go container and that chair and surrounding items were filthy. Not just dusty, but…FILTHY! I’m surprised the health inspector hasn’t paid them a visit. (Pic in comments)

Y'all need a reality check. Your burritos are not that good to be charging 6.50 a burrito. There are way better Mexican restaurants in town now. Your service is sub par and so is the food

Food from buffet was cold
Waiter never refilled our drinks
But carne asada was very good though not hot

Sitting us in the back and forgetting about us. Then having us wait 25 min to order. Then the waiter having a bad attitude is absolutely crazy

RIDICULOUS for this location to be charging $8 for a burrito, because they use the excuse that’s eggs are to high. We can literally call this modern day robbery, and they still charge you for hot sauce with your burrito. When the West 19th location still has $4 two item burritos and FREE hot sauce. I think we can just come out and say it out loud, it’s called “GREED”. Be mindful when ordering here and make sure to get your itemized receipt. I may not make a difference, but my voice will be heard.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I love Josie’s with a passion and last night I had ordered them through DoorDash and I got a bag of chips and a thing of queso with a large Dr Pepper. Both of those things came out to $17.46. But as you can tell, look at the bag, it is extremely greasy. The queso is really watery and had a funky taste to it as well. I’m highly disappointed in Jose’s and they won’t give me a refund. Needless to say the Dr Pepper tasted flat and didn’t have flavor either… #WhompWhomp 🫤

Classic staple of Lubbock dining. I was afraid after the original chef retired that the Carne guisada would retire with him. I am here to report that it is as delicious as it has ever been. Just a tiny bit too runny but the flavor is spot on! Our chips were over salted really bad. The reason for the star deduction. The service was top notch as always and the food was delicious and fresh. I love Josie's and have since I was a kid. Excited that it remains strong at this location. Support local. This place definitely deserves it!
