Mama Josie's Kitchen & Catering

I recently moved back to Lubbock. I had a craving for a breakfast burrito & remembered Josie’s. Well, after this morning, I wish I could completely erase this establishment from my memory. I ordered 2 breakfast plates. When I arrived home, I opened the containers to find 2 scoops of potatoes, a scrambled egg, MAYBE 2 (definitely not 3), 4 corn tortillas & a salsa cup that contained the canned guisada meat. Very disappointing as the eggs & potatoes had no flavor, whatsoever, & the joke of a serving (of carne) had a couple of pieces of meat in the gravy. $20 for an inedible breakfast. Not to mention the attitude coming from the employees. OH, The best part was- an employee was putting salsa in to-go containers right across from the drive thru. Flies were landing all,over the open container. The salsa bin was sitting on a chair to make it easier to scoop out into the to-go container and that chair and surrounding items were filthy. Not just dusty, but…FILTHY! I’m surprised the health inspector hasn’t paid them a visit. (Pic in comments)

Ordered an extra bacon, egg, cheese and potato burrito and an orange juice. I received what was essentially a potato burrito with a few crumbles of egg and bacon with no cheese and a coke. Really sub-par and I don’t say this lightly as someone who has worked in the restaurant business and whose family has owned restaurants. Do better.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I love Josie’s with a passion and last night I had ordered them through DoorDash and I got a bag of chips and a thing of queso with a large Dr Pepper. Both of those things came out to $17.46. But as you can tell, look at the bag, it is extremely greasy. The queso is really watery and had a funky taste to it as well. I’m highly disappointed in Jose’s and they won’t give me a refund. Needless to say the Dr Pepper tasted flat and didn’t have flavor either… #WhompWhomp 🫤

I used to loved coming here but I've noticed she over charges me (josie maybe, she's a Mexican lady older with white hair always at the window) more than any other employee. I'll get the same item its several dollar less. I noticed it a couple items ans today I know she's doing it after looking at the itemized receipt. Took an $11 plate to 14 because She's adding multiple hot sauce which I never ordered to the ticket to do this. I won't be returning after figuring out her scheme. Cheaper, better food open at that hour.

Where's the meat? We had not been to Josie's on years. This morning we thought we would try the 34th Street Josie's Ave Q Drive-Inn. Bad mistake, over priced, bland egg and potatoes with very little cheese. Needless to say won't be back!

I only gave 1 star because I had to. This morning deserves 0. Carne Quisada burrito is not a hard old ground beef burrito, chips and salsa is not burn chips, egg, ham and cheese burrito went straight in the trash. Ridiculous to spend money at your business to get food that has to go straight to trash! Never again, if you want to waste your money LITERALLY or be sick at work all day VISIT this location! So disappointed Mama Josie would be to. AWESOME family!

Mama josie's was good back in the day, idk if it's the staff or what? Bc, the place along with the food and prices have got to crap. I bought a bean and cheese burrito for under 3$ the other day it was so so. I decided to give them another chance..today I've decided I'm not ever going back. Same order, I paid just under 7$ no salsa, nothing, not even napkins. I ask about the price, she said their prices went up along time ago, so the price on the board is not what you payin? Nope. I believe they just charge what they want. Not only that, my papa n bean burrito was mostly bean. Never coming back. Would not recommend. BTW it's the location on Aberdeen and university.

Got shorted 6 breakfast burritos Saturday morning, tried to call kept getting hung up on. Went back today was told rudely there was nothing they could do to rectify. Over priced, Nickel and dimed for extras, spent a lot of money!

they are not in fact 24 hours. theh did not even acknowledge us when we were at the window. and when we called them to see if they were serving they didn’t bother to answer the phone
