We absolutely loved our two meat combo plates - the rib sauce is the best I’ve ever had. The cornbread and beans too - the whole meal unbelievable. Friendly and welcoming owner. We know there are a lot of BBQ choices in Lubbock but this is the best.

Tried Powell’s on a whim for lunch and it was awesome. Called ahead of time and the food was ready within 5 min. Mr. Powell was super nice and this place just gives off small town local BBQ vibes. I got a 3 meat plate for just $12!!! Make sure you bring cash by the way!

This is a hidden gem! If you can look pass the exteria and interior, you are in for a treat. The place reminds you of your great great grandmother's house deep in the country that needs a little TLC but has the best food that you have tasted since you were a little girl. That Bar-B-Q taste like your favorite uncle had just smoked it in the backyard for the family reunion. The ribs and sliced brisket were tender and seasoned to perfection. The beans and potato salad were good. Where can you get a 2 meat Bar-B-Q plate with 2 vegetables and cornbread for $11? Mr. Powell's customer service was very inviting. He definitely cooks and serves with love. I will definitely stop here every time I come to Lubbock.
We ordered food for 4 people came out quickly. Wonderful service and a home style country atmosphere. The BBQ was moist and smoke, and the sauce was delicious.

I always passed this place so many times for so many years and always wondered about the food until I had a craving for brisket and decided to stop by. I regret not stopping sooner for all the years I just passed by and wondered. Delish! Well what can I say, the ribs were spectacular. Tender, smokey, and the sauce, perfection. Sliced beef sammich is next level, delightful blend of fat and flavorful meat. Hot Link spicy, amazing. Potato salad was sweeeet and the beans were perfectly salty; rounding out the two meat plate. Service, exceptional. Mr. Powell is a gem. Friendly as the day is long. Atmosphere was everything including porch cat ? my only regret was getting take out so I didn't know I needed more until I was already gone. THE BEST IN TEXAS!
