I would give 3.5 stars if I could. It was good Indian food and I was very happy to have vegan options here at the restaurant. I tried some of the pekora and the aloo gobhi. Good but not Wow.
Several months ago, the food was very good. Im not from India so the other customers who have stated their food doesn not have enough spice and is too bland, im not sure I agree with them.
On the other hand, Kaveri did exactly what I asked them not to do. Several months ago, their chicken in the chicken tikka masala was cooked perfect. The amount of chicken I got wasn't the best but I was still happy. The lamb vindaloo was awesome! I called and asked them not to change a thing.
The last couple times we have ordered there, the food has been awful. Maybe 5-6 little squares of overly tough chicken in an entire container of masala sauce and overcooked, mooshy rice. I spent $60.00 on food and most certainly felt ripped off. The time before that, same thing with the tiny amount of tough chicken in the chicken tikka masala.
Because the food is so inconsistent and it's become a gamble to shop there, we have decided to stop eating there. The passion in the food has gone out the window already. I assume you got a new cook or something. Whoever is cooking the food now isn't cooking with his/her heart.
This is Christopher BTW. The man who always raved about your food now has a change of heart. This is really unfortunate.

Kaveri has an absolutely delicious Indian food buffet. I’d you are wanting to try Indian food this is a good way to do so by taking a bit from each entree and eat it with some Naan! Yummy!

Curry goat was full of bones. My daughter broke a tooth. I feel the bones should be removed. Do they want someone to have serious problems. Big problem.
A great place if you want to try some authentic Indian food here in Lubbock.

The staff here were friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The chicken curry was cold inside, despite being hot on the outside, which made it seem like it had been pre-cooked but not heated properly. The taste was underwhelming as well. Cleanliness was just average; there was a noticeable smell inside that made the overall experience less pleasant. Wouldn't recommend based on my visit.

I love when a restaurant has vegan options clearly marked and theirs are! There’s 3 options and we had 2 of the 3. Both were delicious and full of flavor. Not spicy but still so tasty. Size options which is nice too. Only thing not clearly labeled was the samosas and I wish they were ( we would have gotten them !)
Everything was amazing. Best chicken byrani and garlic Naan we've had. Def will be back !!

We tried Veg Biryani via Uber Eats along with Gobhi Manchurian. Biryani was ok 3.5/5 type. It was flavorful but not authentic. Gobhi Manchurian was just ok, not bad but nothing to remember.

We came from out of town for a medical appt. It was afternoon when my wife who is American wanted to eat Indian food. We were very hungry.
We barely walk in Kaveri, a young man tells us its closed. We are walking out of the restaurant when, I hear a conversation between mother and son in Telugu. (They didn't know I understood their language).
It's ok that the restaurant is closed. I had no problem with it. We were already one foot outside the door. The mother insisted to her son there was food in the kitchen and there wasn't any problem seating 2 people.
This is what bothers me. The son said, "Allaga alavatulu chestay, ilantolu mati mati ki vacchi teenesi potha untaru." Properly interpreted what this inhospitable, rude, entitled brat said is, "If we make it a habit to allow these people, they just will keep coming back to eat our food."
No 1. Lubbock is NOT our home.
No. 2. We were 1st time visitors to Kaveri. (We have NEVER met these Telugu Hindus before). All this did not even last 5 minutes.
No. 3. We were hungry and my wife who is American wanted to eat Indian food.
No. 4. We did NOT go there to beg nor do we want to eat free food.
No. 5. Kaveri is NOT doing Lubbock or the USA any favor. There are other restaurants too.
What bothers me is his arrogance, lack of social etiquette and public mannerisms and hospitality. (When it comes to eating food, even the poorest Indian knows common courtesy to offer water to strangers entering their lowly modest home).
We have a problem of illegal immigrants in the USA. But the problem of educated, rich, self entitled Hindu Indian immigrants even if they are legal and who use Amerca's freedoms must learn that there are certain Judeo-Christian values this country was founded on. It's called hospitality.
Ask any minority in India if they have ease of operating a business in a radicalized Hindu country with all the red tape and corruption.
We found a better option. Try Tikka Shack Indian Grub. There were Americans serving there. Well lighted. Service was excellent. Very hospitable.
Chilli Chicken was awesome

Amazing Indian food in Lubbock! We went for the buffet so we could try multiple dishes and we were so glad we did. It was worth it. They had many varieties, so if you are new to Indian food this would be a great way to try it. The service was fantastic, they were very nice. Highly recommend!

I love authentic indian food. I got the butter chicken and it was good but wasn’t what I expected. It tasted like tomato soup. I was hoping for more spice and flavor but the tomato sauce was over powering. The consistency was really good and the chicken was extremely tender. The basmati rice was soft and fluffy and paired well with the butter chicken. I really loved the garlic naan and the original naan. I think I’ll try some type of biryani next time, or the tikka masala. Overall good service, good food.
