Pizza on point

Pizza out of a box? Tasted like it. Taquitos out of a box? Yes, they were. Seems like all frozen foods out of a box. I won't be going back. Also couldn't make a bloody mary because they were out of ingredients. Sad.

Love the atmosphere! Food is great. The spud and pork wings are my favorite! The pizza (and possibly everything else) is made from scratch and was absolutely delicious. With that being said, it does take some time for your food to come out! There was also only one guy running the place so that didn't help much either. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Devin was very friendly and tended to all our needs.

A fresh downtown venue which serves up innovative food, tiki infused atmosphere & a rotating montage of festive games like poker night, karaoke, darts, Jenga, board games, cards & events on different nights which is updated on Facebook. Dimly lit & divey with an eclectic smattering of tiki decor inclusive of surfboard tables. The owner, who happened to be bartending & cooking on this particular night is down home West Texas friendly & warm as though you came over for dinner. He is eager to please & accommodates request to the best of his ability. The menu presents an unusual presentation of wings, innovative pizzas, stuffed spuds, pretzels & a few desserts. We got the wings & they were tender but, did not blow me down. I felt more heat was warranted in the sauces which had chili or insinuated heat. The queso needed to be warmth wise hotter & the pretzel was good but, could have used more buttery love. Drink wise, he was spot on when I requested a coconut infused martini! My wrap up is this, fabulous concept, spectacular service, freaking love the game nights as Lubbock needs more of this incorporated into the social vein & live the locale in the downtown district. What would I suggest??? Make sure queso is hot, spice up the wings a notch, butter is always highly welcomed on anything of a soft & starchy nature... Potentially, waitresses & waiters in lively tiki accouterment! Oh & a drink menu with the tiki theme to guide the indecisive yet thirsty customer!!! Love & blessings to this establishment & I will be back to infuse ideas & enjoy the fun & the vibe!!!!

I had heard about the "pig wings" at this place and just had to go give them a try. Weird name I know but if you try them you will see why they call them wings instead of ribs. The bone sticks out like a handle just as it does on a chicken wing but the hunk of pork meat is so tender and they have several sauces to choose from. I really think I could live off of this dish! A friend of mine said he stopped in also and tried the pizza and it was amazing. I want to try the pizza but it would be hard for me to go there and not order the pig wings again! The atmosphere is cool and the service is great as well. I have only been to The Freaky Tiki once but I can assure you, I will be back!

I have written a number of Yelp reviews and never have I given an establishment less than 4 stars, but unfortunately there's always a first time. We decided to go with The Freaky Tiki for dinner tonight for two reasons: 1) we wanted someplace to deliver and they are linked up with Texas To Go; and 2) the menu looked different and interesting. I looked at other reviews (there was only one on Yelp but more on Google) before trying them out. Many commented on what great drinks they make and gave the food mixed reviews, but we saw that there was a new owner so decided we'd try for ourselves. Unfortunately, we should have spent our $47 elsewhere. We ordered "Our Famous Pretzel Sticks", the Luau Pig pizza, the Shepherd's Pie, and Key Lime Pie for dessert. The first issue: originally, we ordered The Peppered Pig instead of the pizza, but Texas To Go called us to say that Freaky Tiki was out of peppers so we couldn't order that dish. The second issue: it took more than an hour to get the food, and our driver actually called us from Freaky Tiki to let us know she was there but our order wasn't ready yet. I added this note only to let anyone reading this know that it wasn't because our food sat in a delivery car that it wasn't good. When it arrived, our food was hot so we assumed that all would be forgiven and forgotten once we dug in - but boy were we mistaken. Despite advertising that the "famous" pretzels were brushed with garlic butter, ours were not brushed with anything. There was a side of cheese, but no mustard included. It wouldn't have mattered anyway because the pretzels were as hard as bricks! They were simply inedible so they were thrown away - $7.50 down the drain. Next up, we tried the pizza. Before even taking a bite, there was a strange smell which (we think) was the smoke from the pork on the pizza. It was so overpowering that it was all one could taste after having a bite - and not in a good way. Moreover, the crust was doughy and soft and clearly undercooked. With all of the toppings on it, the pizza was just soggy and devoid of any flavor other than the smokiness of the pork. Another $10.00 into the trash bin. By now as you can imagine, we didn't have any expectations for the Shepherd's Pie but we were hungry so we figured we'd give it a go. Suffice to say that the one star that this review got was only because this was the one thing we both were able to eat. The dough was still not cooked enough, but we were able to put it back into the oven and crisp it up to the point that we could actually eat it. It was worth 3 stars. It at least had a little flavor to it and was edible, although I'm not sure if that's because we were so hungry or because it was actually that good. We wouldn't order it again just because having mashed potatoes and pizza dough together is a heavy duo, but it was an interesting concept and we at least feel like it was okay and justified the $6.50 spent. Finally, we got to the key lime pie. It looked quite sorry on the plate it was delivered on (yes, a plate with aluminum foil covering it - no box or lid). This was without question the worst dessert we have ever had, so bad that we each took one bite and had to spit it out before swallowing it. There was no taste of lime at all - no tartness that any key lime pie should have. The "pie" tasted like it had been stored in a refrigerator for a week or more as it was a mix of rubbery, soggy, gelatinous and bland. The graham cracker crust was soft and soggy, not anything you'd expect or anything we've ever tasted before in our lives. (Excuse the picture because it was thrown in the trash and then pulled back out to photograph). I don't know how - or when - it was made but it was by far the worst bite of a dessert that either of us have ever had. Another $4.50 wasted. When you factor in the $9 delivery charge and the $2 that Freaky Tiki charges for a "to-go" order, we spent a little over $47 and threw away all but $6.50. So w
