Although it has been several years since I visited The Rawls Course, I have to agree with recent reviews, especially Paul N. Would like to add that Tom Doaks was given the order to take the flat lands and try to emulate the Palo Duro Canyon in the design. A tough order, but he did a great job. As I recall, the first par 3 is fantastic. Recreating an uplift of the land, which most folks don’t realize is not a natural feature, but created in the design. Just stunning! Not like any other course. But you have to stop and notice!

Tom Doak designed, public access gem that is reasonably priced. Pin placement matters all the way back to the tee. Like most of Doak's work, the short par fours are the most interesting holes. Finishing with two par fives is a nice touch to make or break a round. The only knock on the course is the par threes don't offer much variety and are fairly unremarkable. As mentioned, pitch marks on the greens are pretty bad. Our group must have repaired twenty per hole while everyone putted out. Outside of that, no complaints and would drive an hour out of the way to play this course again.

Good course in Lubbock. Well designed and challenging. Great use of the land and landscape. Fun to play and staff is good. Only problem was that the greens had lots of ball marks. Not sure if it is members or maintenance.

Great course, food, drink and honest and courteous staff! How can Brooke Barber and Preston (whatever) give this course 1 star and didn't review anything but their problem emptying the cart out before leaving the facility and then blaming their problems on student workers. I have lost more range finders than most and have never blamed it on anyone but myself. It could have bounced out of the cart anywhere on the course and anyone could have picked it up but you both blame student workers. Take responsibility for your mistake and don't give 1 star to the course, give it to yourself, and then review the course.

Great design, beautiful rolling hills, BRUTAL rough that's easy to lose your ball in, but the greens, tee boxes and fairways were pristine. Practice facilities and staff also awesome. Excited to come back

The greens were in horrible shape. So many un-repaired ball marks on all of the greens. Also previous ball marks were brown and shoe prints were also an issue.

Course was in great condition and challenging, but fun.

The lack of access for someone without a membership to the subpar practice facilities really detract from the experience. It makes it hard for me to recommend this course to anyone looking for a public and welcoming place to play and practice.

Ate at Jerry’s Grill. Food was great. The service was good and the atmosphere pleasant.

Group of 10 golfers this course adequately accommodated with ease, The checkin process was seamless, Staffers were on-it with golf cart movement that allowed us to photo-op with logo'd material. Staff Marshal George, Noland + 2 counter checkin personnel of Mgr + young lady (name forgotten) set the tone of a good day of golfing. Not to mention, the young Man grilling up the hot dogs & frequent visit of Refresher Carts. The grounds were maintained & scenery pleasant However, we lost balls!! Will recommend this establishment. Will be back to visit.

Did 18 holes and I have to say . One of the hardest but prettiest courses I’ve played on in west Texas. Staff is super friendly and helpful . Will 100% be back . 10/10 on everything, also need to mention the food is pretty awesome !

Beautiful course! Texas Tech

Extremely disappointed with the experience at Rawls Golf Course. I left my range finder in the cart after my round, and when I contacted the staff immediately after, they claimed it was never found. I know for a fact it was left in the cart, and the lack of urgency or concern from the staff was alarming. I strongly believe one of the student workers took it, and the course is now turning a blind eye. This is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the integrity of the staff. I won’t be returning, and I’ll be warning others to keep a close eye on their belongings here.

I recently played at Rawls Golf Course and accidentally left my range finder in the cart. I called as soon as I realized, but the staff told me it hadn’t been turned in. I strongly believe one of the student workers may have taken it, as it was definitely left in the cart and somehow vanished without a trace. It’s frustrating and disappointing that something valuable can go missing and there’s no accountability. I expected more from a course affiliated with Texas Tech.
