Of all places…Marfa Tx?! But you will not be disappointed with your dining experience here. Top-notch cuisine. Very upscale and delicious. Very busy during my time there, had to wait for a while for the food. But it was well worth it. Steak frites with bernaise sauce and parmesan truffle fries. Delish!

Great food and drinks. Very nice atmosphere with lots of art on the walls. Fair prices. Our server, Melissa, really took this to a 5 star place though. Exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always had a smile. What a lovely dinner.

LaVenture is one of our favorite places. The food, atmosphere and service are wonderful. We highly recommend the lasagna, Bahn mi sliders, seared tuna, shrimp appetizer, New York Strip, and pretty much everything else on the menu. Enjoy!

Lovely meal -we had a margarita and truffle pizza which were very good, and asparagus with was superb. Thursday means selected bottles are half off and we had a nice chianti. A really great meal at a fair price-totally recommend.

The food was quite good. Unfortunately, LaVenture is like Marfa itself - it pretends to be diverse and progressive and tolerant - but ultimately it’s none of those. We were seated at the “chef’s table”. The table was behind a little gate next to the pizza oven, separate and apart from the main restaurant area. Our view was of the side of the pizza oven, stacked extra chairs, empty dish bins, and unused restaurant appliances. It was ridiculous and insulting to be seated there, particularly when we were the ONLY HISPANIC PATRONS in the entire restaurant. When I asked the hostess to move us to any of the three vacant 4-tops in the main restaurant area, I was told they were reserved. We had a reservation and we arrived early and before any of those parties. We will never eat there again and I will tell everyone I know not to eat there. I don’t know why I expected more from a restaurant in an ignorant, rural Texas town.

We had a lovely time. The waitress was great. We shared some apps, salad and the steak so we could get a few sides and Cab.from Austraila.

Yummy cocktails, really good pizza and wings. Cozy ambiance. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was nice. This is the most reliable restaurant for dinner in Marfa, so it’s worth waiting a bit longer for your drinks/food to come out.

Most of the people were nice, but one bartender (on two different evenings) almost seemed to be trying to ignore me at all costs. I felt unwelcome and left before I was really ready to go. I kind of wanted to try a dessert, but not enough to deal with bad service.

Food is good but unremarkable, for the price. Atmosphere is very nice at dinner, low lights and comfy seat, but the soothing appearance is outweighed by the loud music. It's impossible to relax when your table mates have to yell to be heard. The house margarita was the best I've had in a while. I'd definitely go back for that, but I'd prefer to take it elsewhere in the hotel, if they'd allow. The loud music, unfortunately, made my experience equal parts lovely and frustrating.

I have dined at the LaVenture restaurant the last couple of years but have visited more often the last few months. The ambiance is one that invites an air of creativity mixed with mystical etherealness. It’s been an artistic haven for me to escape from the ruggedness of West Texas especially when in need of an inspiring environment for my writing. My favorite thing to do has been to go to the back bar and order some appetizers and cocktails while I write and chat with Sarah, the talented bartender. I appreciate the detail she puts into making the drinks, while also offering alternative and creative libations for those of us who have a hard time making a decision. She knows the menu well and offers honest suggestions of food pairings with the drinks. I’ve also been waited on by Ryan and he’s great, and Moony is a wonderful host. The cooks are phenomenal at what they do. My go-tos are the truffle fries with garlic aioli and the brick oven pepperoni pizza. The salads are fresh and colorful - I get the Greek salad. Their soups are seasonal and so far I’ve tried 2 of the soups, carrot with cream and tomato, and both were very delicious and flavorful. My low rating is not of the restaurant but of an experience I had this past weekend with one of their waiters. I had a friend visiting from California and for months I had raved to her about LaVenture. Our server was Doug and when he came to ask us for our drinks, he was immediately rude and sharp to us. We were taken aback and attempted to brush it off thinking he may have had a bad day, which if he did it still does not justify the despicable and disrespectful customer service that followed. He rudely told us that the kitchen closed in 30 minutes, so my friend and I quickly looked at the menu to pick something to be respectful of the time (I live 1.5 hrs away and we did our best to get there way before closing). However, when we turned to give our order, Doug cut us off by turning and walking away, which was odd since we assumed that he’d want to put the order in as quickly as possible due to the kitchen closing. The rest of the night became a series of uncomfortable, impolite, and unprofessional interactions by Doug. My friend and I spoke to him kindly and respectfully, even though that was not returned. My friend shared later that she felt so uncomfortable that she couldn’t finish her meal, and I too shared the same sentiment. Being the optimistic person that she is, she made the best of a horrible situation but to say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. Never have either of us been treated the way Doug treated us and the experience was so disheartening. While I understand that one person does not represent the whole of a company and its employees, it definitely plays a substantial part. I have worked in the customer service industry before and empathize with the challenges one faces both with customers and their industry, which is why I initially empathized with Doug. I hope that management will address Doug and his unprofessionalism.

I broke my diet for this? Meh. Unimpressed. For starters, the waitstaff acted as if they could care less that I was there. Idk, maybe I wasn't bougie enough. LaVenture does appeal to a well travelled niche. Artwork abounds, the bar menu is eclectic and modern, the mixologists know their craft, and the brick oven sits impressively ready to cook pizza wonders. The bar was out of all their beers on tap. On a Friday night? Odd. As for my Italian sausage lasagna, it was lacking in height and flavor. I am accustomed to the traditional multilayered pasta that has slow cooked in the oven with plenty of meat sauce, ricotta and crispy mozzarella that's caramelized on the edges. This attempt was singular in nature, with a basic tomato sauce and loads of mozzarella to disguise the lacking pasta. On the other end of the spectrum, my fellow pilot greatly enjoyed his order of ribs with the side of house made slaw. Though why would a waiter ask at what temp to cook them? That was a first. If you find yourself at the gateway of the Big Bend, exhausted from the numerous art gallery tours, LaVenture is an option. Maybe the pizza is the way to go. I'm not sure the next time I'll be in the area to give it another try.

Wow! Food and drinks here were exceptional. One of the best steak frites I’ve ever had. And huge shout out to our server Doug. He was great and made the night extra special.

Ambiance was nice. Doug, our server, was awesome! Very attentive and fun to talk to. The food was so good!! We had the crab cakes, fried chicken, and asparagus. So good. We were pleasantly surprised. If you're in Marfa, you have to eat there.

The atmosphere only scored low due to the loud atmosphere, there was a art gallery event going on in town and it was hard to carry a conversation. It is a bit on the pricier side for most places. Our server Daniel was decent. He seemed to have a lot of tables but didn't seem flustered or overwhelmed but it definitely did seem to take from the experience. The steak frites was tender and the perfect temperature. The spare ribs were fall of bone, the Caesar salad was properly dressed without being heavy and the romaine crisp. The steak nachos were great starter. The salmon linguini was delicious. Crispy garlic bread and we also had the pepperoni, brick oven pizza. Pizza is about a 12" or medium size from your major pizza chains so it can easily feed 2-3. My husband tried the pinto canyon mule and lost gringo. Both drinks were good, I dipped a bit of each and I prefer the lost gringo because the prickly pear flavor stood out and shined.
