Atmosphere and service was great, but the steak was very disappointing. Very burnt outer crust and the fries that came with it were cold upon arrival to our table.

I went for the first time last night. Food was amazing, atmosphere was perfect, and that is the best Manhattan I have ever had. The owner was making his way around visiting with tables. Very professional

My husband and I went here for the first time tonight for a date night. We drove an hour and a half to try it and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere, wine, and food were all just perfect! Our server, Liz, was very attentive. We are already making plans to revisit this beautifully restored restaurant.

I'll start with the good stuff - the atmosphere is very cool, it's in an old train station and reminded me of a much smaller version of grand central in NYC. The fish of the day was a tasty red fish that we enjoyed.
Now the not so great - the other dishes we had were mediocre and overpriced. Even the fish dish we enjoyed was $50 and quite small and basic. The fried artichokes tasted like something you'd get at Sonic. The waitress forgot one of the dishes we ordered and destroyed the cork when trying to open a bottle of wine. She forgot to tell us about the specials but we overheard another server telling their table about them so we ordered $1.50 oysters. They were massive oysters but not great quality, I wouldn't recommend them. The wedge salad was ok but very basic. $150 for a simple date night for 2 and very mediocre food seems excessive for East Texas. If Ginocchio had quality food like Ki or Jack Ryan or Corks I'd happily pay that amount, but for us this was low quality food and bad service at fine dining prices. I'd recommend Rueggenbach or Pazzeria in Marshall but definitely not this place.

We love traveling through Marshall, Texas during the holidays, when the downtown area transforms into a Christmas village complete with ice skating, Santa’s workshop activities for kids, hot cocoa stands, and more. The perfect way to cap off that experience is a family dinner at The Ginocchio.

Not only is The Ginocchio a registered historic place tied to the old train station (which is a treat for history fans and kids alike) it also delivers a truly high-end dining experience. The service is exceptional, the menu is excellent, and everything we’ve ordered has been exquisite. My go-to is the ribeye steak paired with an Old Fashioned, which has never disappointed.

My wife has a gluten allergy, and the staff is always knowledgeable and helpful when guiding her through the menu. The kitchen clearly takes great care with preparation, which makes dining here comfortable and worry-free for her.

Whether you’re visiting Marshall during the holidays or stopping through at any time of year, The Ginocchio is absolutely worth putting at the top of your list.

Visited on 11.20.2025. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, when I explored Marshall. However, I am Posting pictures of the building and the historical marker about its importance to the city.

We’ve dined at The Ginocchio several times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food — it’s a charming restaurant with a lot of character and truly fantastic dishes. Unfortunately, our most recent visit as a party of six (four adults and two children) was disappointing from a service standpoint.

We were initially seated at a small table but were quickly and kindly moved to a larger, more comfortable one. Our server took our drink order — water for everyone and one glass of wine — but it took about 20 minutes to receive them, and a request for a kid’s cup was overlooked. When our meals arrived, it was exactly an hour after ordering, and only half the table’s food came out at first. The rest followed several minutes later, and a few items were missing.

That said, the food itself was excellent — flavorful, well-prepared, and consistent with what we’ve come to expect from The Ginocchio. The kitchen clearly knows what they’re doing. However, the service lagged significantly. Our server checked in about every 15 minutes, and while polite, the attention level didn’t match the standard typically associated with the type of restaurant (higher end).

When the bill arrived, we were surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added for a party of six. Management explained that this POLICY is listed on the menu, though none of us noticed it there or online. While I understand automatic gratuities are becoming more common, tipping should remain a gesture of appreciation for good service, not an expectation or obligation. Gratuities are a gift from the customer, given in recognition of attentive and quality service — not a guaranteed commission based on meal price.

To their credit, the manager did stop by our table a few times to apologize for the delay, explaining that a large party elsewhere in the restaurant had slowed things down. The restaurant seemed busy but not unmanageable.

In short: the food was wonderful, but the service and pacing fell short this time. I hope management takes this feedback to heart, as The Ginocchio remains a beautiful spot with tremendous culinary potential — it just needs more consistency in service and transparency around tipping policies.

We went here for the first time for our anniversary and it was spectacular!! The seafood fettuccine & skirt steak were amazing! And the crème brûlée is the best I’ve ever had! Great experience! 10 stars!!

Our first time visiting this little gem in Marshall, TX and it did not disappoint. Liz was a server and she provides the best service that anyone can ask for and that was with her helping with a very large group as well from what I observed. For appetizers, we had the fried artichokes, jumbo lump crab cake, and the oysters reynaldo. For the main course, we had the 18oz cowboy ribeye and the halibut blackened and for dessert, the homemade ice cream, creme brulee, and the black forest cake. All the dishes were amazing! The atmosphere is wonderful and clean and make sure to check out their bar. If you go, ask for Liz.
