We went to have barbecue since it had been forever., but then see the sign near where you order that ALL their barbecue has MSG. Very disappointed. So we split a chicken nugget dinner and a salad. Nuggets were overcooked. Salad was huge but had some brown lettuce. Potato salad & Cole slaw was good. If you want huge portions, this is your place.

The hamburger, which used to be my favorite, is no longer a homemade patty nor is it cooked like it used to be. It was a prepackaged bland piece of not very good!! Very disappointed!!!!

Your mouth will water as soon as the scent hits your nostrils. Absolutely great BBQ and smoked meats. I had the smoked sausage with braised cabbage and Mac-n-Cheese and it was all delicious! Definitely on the return list. Very cool history of the Mathis, TX area hanging on the walls.

I went inside to place a takeout order because I wanted to see what the place was like inside. It's very rustic and appropriately themed. I only ordered the smoked turkey club, but it was absolutely unparalleled in my extensive Southern barbecue travels. It comes on a toasted hoagie style roll and is super light and delicately flavored. There is a healthy portion of smoked turkey along with a half a mountain of bacon or so. Next comes the green leaf lettuce and red ripe tomatoes. It also comes with mayonnaise and swiss. The surprise I was not expecting but thoroughly enjoyed was the avocado. A 10 out of 10 cannot miss sandwich. Will absolutely have trouble ordering anything but the smoked turkey club in the future.

Wonderful BBQ! The Brisket was awesome. Potato salad, beans, coleslaw, green beans, baked potato and salad were on point! The steak was cooked perfect but was mainly Gristle and couldn't be eaten. The cashier was professional. The waitress was kind, patient and did a wonderful job. Definitely will be back for brisket and all the trimmings. This is a great place to eat!

We went there 8/3/25 2pm. Not my first time, maybe the fifth time, we always stopped there on our way to and from South Padre island, the food is always super delicious. The brisket is very soft. But today the cashier almost made me lost my appetite. She was very rude. I politely asked her to repeat what she said and she gave me that annoyed stare and repeated it rudely. The server was really friendly and helpful as usual. But that one cashier made me give them 1 star for service. Sorry.
