The opening of this Black Bear location showed so much promise. Food was great and the service as well. But as time progressed the management became insufferable. If you arrive at the wrong time you will be forced to wait 30-40 minutes before being seated, no matter the amount of empty tables in the restaurant. It is curious how this place is operational despite all the potential customers that leave due to lenghty wait times. At one point, after waiting around 25 mins to be seated, the manager came to apologize to us for the wait. Did he seat us or give us a time frame? No, instead he offered to say jokes to pass the time. Regardless, even if you get past the waiting time, their serving times can widely vary. You may get your food in a timely manner, or wait another 30-40 minutes for it. I have waited 40 minutes for a waffle plate in prior visits. Busier places like Costa Messa, Blackbeard's, and Meatball Cafe seat and serve you faster than this Black Bear location. I am so disappointed. The food here is good and the atmosphere is great, but poor management is ruining it. I want to give them my patronage, but they make it very difficult to do so. Unfortunately, I will no longer be coming here.

You get a table in 15 minutes, but you have to wait for your food for 45 minutes. The food is very, beary good. Order the chicken fried steak with the omelet and the French toast.

Black Bear (Vegas and Utah) has been our go-to family spot for the longest. It was the best surprise to find one here in McAllen! I went in their talks to guy with glasses and he told me 20 minutes. I was waiting in the lobby of the restaurant and people came after me when sit in where they have items for sale at . I been waiting for 20 minutes and then I seen the people who came after was sitting before I am . That is ridiculous service for restaurants to do business will not recommend this restaurant to anyone I know .
