Visiting DQ is one of my earliest memories of living in the US, after returning from Europe. My parents loved taking cross country jaunts in the family VW bus...packing all of their sons (five boys) into the VW and heading to points unknown, "just because..." Usually, we'd have our Grumman canoe on the roof and my father's huge, ten person tent, sleeping bags and camping gear stuffed into the back. Then there were three constants: "Jonas, (because I always had great eyesight), can you read the road sign on the next hill?" "WHEN are we going to get there?" and "Can we stop at Dairy Queen?"
