Although the place is very small, it makes me think of my grandma's home kitchen! The ladies that are preparing the food are amazing and the smells definitely took me back to my childhood when I was growing up in Monterrey Mexico. The food is amazing! The definition of authentic Mexican food!
McAllens best kept secret. lol. If you drive thru the storefront. It says closed. Place looks abandoned. Go thru the alley and you’ll get the best freshly made gorditas and flour tortillas. . Cash only. Oh, and they run out of food toward the 2pm mark. Park in the side streets or on the alley if there is a space. The menu is on the outside of the wall. No frills no thrills. There is no place to sit down ,most people eat it in their car or take it home. Just plain old fashioned...
When I lived in Austin back in the 90s, I would eat two of the gorditas before I would return. Now that I live here again, I visit this place at least once a month. If you are from McAllen and you don't know this place, you need to try the gorditas rellenas. They are all good.
