Beautiful, delicious, wonderful experience!I have been wanting to try this place for three years the moment finally came for me and my husband. The food was heavenly and we were smiling so much because of how good the food was. We even got dessert and coffee very rare for us . 10 /10 I really can't wait to come back!

Excellent Shwarama and cabbage rolls!Yes, prices are higher, but you get better quality and halal for those who need it. I brought my family for Iftar and they very much enjoyed it.I highly recommend their strawberry lemonade as well.Flavors are excellent. Staff is friendly. This is not fast food so dont come expectly junk. You get well crafted , good quality and delicious foodI will bring my family again.Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options that are deliciousDietary restrictions: I and my family eat halal and this restaurant gives a great amount of flavor and provide the halal meat we needKid-friendliness: I brought my whole family and we are a little louder than some and they were very kind to us.

Unjustifiably expensive prices. I’ve grown up around Middle Eastern food for the better part of my teenage and adult life. Absolutely nothing justifies the costs being charged for what’s on offer, often for food that is stale (grape leaves, I’m looking at you). Average grade food at prices approaching $30 for a single shawarma (Gasp, this is virtually twice the price of a large shawarma from the infamous Café Helen in central London) and $20 for hummus (essentially chickpeas, tahini and lemon juice!) including tax. Heck, even the so called ‘Fares Fries’ are exorbitantly priced at over $11 for a small plate. Now the restaurant may justify all of the above by stating their use of the highest quality ingredients and rising supply chain costs being borne by a family run setup, but unless they’re using Le Bonnotte potatoes from France for their fries, I’m not quite convinced. This is a standalone restaurant in McAllen, not Miami. This is Fares, not Nusr-Et. Despite rising prices for most items globally, we still have some of the most cost effective rental, labour and supply charges in the country here. Please ground yourselves like the Za’atar you use and come back down to Earth to more realistic prices. Share the beauty of the Middle Eastern culture with more people in the Valley rather than excluding them by providing mediocre food at prices only the very few can afford.

I like the food, but i do agree with other comments the prices are insane for McAllen restaurant. Anything you order, plus drink and tax, 40-50$ per person for meat with rice is crazy! For that amount you can enjoy fancy food in upscale restaurants …

I walked in wanting to experience the flavors of Middle East cuisine, but I walked out with a hungry stomach and empty wallet! The hummus has 4-6 ingredients at the most that's including garnish and spices. $28 for 4 heaping table spoons(I'm being generous) of hummus in a sauce pan and 2 dried out pieces of pita bread that wasn't freshly made but from a pre-made packet. The shawarma is not authentic. It was made on a pan or stir-fried, not from a traditional spinning vertical rotisserie. Tasted nothing like shawarma, either. Wish if it was at least a foot long to justify the exorbitant price. $28

Nice location but $25 for a shawarma, that's crazy. It didn't taste like a shawarma either. Been stationed in middle east for 10yrs and this doesn't taste authentic. Better off in Houston or Dallas. Sadly valley is not a good place for diverse authentic cultural food.

Me and my friend always pass by Fares. So we finally decided to try it out. And the food was delicious!! Their menu in my opinion is kind of pricey, but you do get a lot of food in return. I would definitely come back, and Recommend to friends.Vegetarian options: My friend is vegetarian, and she said that the falafel sandwich was delicious especially with the honey hummus.
