I ate here today while I was visiting for work, stopped by on a whim. IT WAS AMAZING!! I almost cried when I ate my food it was so delicious. And the server who helped me was so lovely, made a wonderful recommendation. I am absolutely coming back anytime I am in the area!

Just had an unforgettable meal at Maria Cruz Restaurant & Bar, a beautiful plant-based spot in the heart of Downtown McAllen, Texas! Their Plato Casado was next-level — tender plant-based bistec with potatoes in rich tomato broth, served with rice, beans, a fresh lime-dressed salad, and sweet plantains topped with queso fresco & cream. Every bite was full of Southern Mexican flavor!

I had the pleasure of dining at Maria Cruz, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, and welcoming — but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the outstanding service.

Angie, our waitress, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food. She walked us through the menu with such enthusiasm and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
