They’re inconsistent with how they apply their dress code and they know it sadly. I waited in line to get in while wearing a pearl snap with a collar. Was denied due to business casual dress code, however there other individuals who had been in the establishment and were wearing tshirts and tennis shoes. I assume they probably knew the management staff. Nepotism won’t take you far in business.

I visited this bar while home in McAllen for the holidays and had a disappointing experience at the door.
While waiting to enter, I watched several guests be allowed in without issue. There was women in very revealing dresses and men with shirts unbuttoned well past their chest. When it was my turn, the door attendant told me I could not enter because I was “showing too much.”
I was wearing a simple V-neck T-shirt. Nothing sheer, nothing inappropriate.
What stood out was not a dress code, but inconsistency. Dress codes should be applied fairly and professionally to everyone. When standards change depending on who is standing in front of you, it creates an uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience.
We chose to take our business elsewhere. Unfortunately, first impressions matter, and this one missed the mark.
I’ve been to real “Upscale Bars/Clubs” in LA, NYC & DC where I live & had never been denied entry at any place.
I would not recommend this place, take your business somewhere else where they appreciate your business. This place is not it. Below is the photo of myself wearing a simple Vneck. I don’t think I was dressed inappropriately or offensively yo anyone.

A man approached me when I tried to enter and asked “who I was with.” I just wanted to enter with some friends for some drinks and was received with hostility. The dress code is also ridiculous for a place like this. Too strict for no reason. Will not be returning. Flashy cars in front for WHAT

Had an amazing experience at Toloa! The chilaquiles with barbacoa were absolutely delicious—perfectly balanced flavors and cooked just right. Our servers, Diego and Freya, were attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the entire experience. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Definitely looking forward to coming back!
