I went on a monday around 10a. Place was fairly packed so limited seating. Staff wasn’t welcoming upon entering. There’s a quiet hum of chatter. The barista is loud considering how low everyone else’s noise level is. The guy who took my order, again non-inviting. Had a matter of fact tone to his voice that really didn’t make me feel like I could take my time to review the menu or like I should ask any questions. He was just cold, like an “ok what do you want?” kind of vibe. The almond croissant was so underwhelming. Clearly not fresh, and even having been toasted, was still pretty cold and hard. This place has cozy lighting but it’s not a warm coffee shop that I could spend hours at. I spent $15 in total on my croissant and matcha.

**editing to a 1 star, given the defensive, patronizing, and unnecessarily snarky reply from this establishments powers that be. My feedback wasn’t about seeking silence or expecting a particular “vibe,” but about how I personally experienced the space and service during my visit. I didn’t bring the croissant up in the moment because, like many customers, I didn’t feel encouraged to engage further after ordering. It is clearly easier to defend the tasteless “vibe” of the food and the employees than to address hospitality. I also said the barista was loud relative to the room. That’s an observation, not a demand for quiet, smarta$$. I wasn’t looking for silence or a monastery vibe, just basic warmth and hospitality. Cozy lighting alone doesn’t make a space feel welcoming. Based on this experience and the defensive response to feedback, this isn’t a place I’d return to.

The best coffee shop in McKinney! We've been coming here for years. The vibe is so laid back, the drinks are delicious and the staff are always so nice. My four year old even managed to totally flip a table over and make a giant mess, but they were all so kind and patient and got it cleaned up right away. Thankful for this McKinney gem!

I really like their coffee here plus, almost every table has a charging port, which is super convenient. But… the hours kind of suck. By the time I get out of classes, the place is already closed.

Pretty disappointed with this visit.

Went in at 3:45 yesterday and yes I know they close at 5 on Saturday.
Ordered an espresso.. normally it comes with a ceramic cup and a sparkling water.. and the barista put it into a To-go cup - mind you the cafe was pretty full.. asked for it to be in a ceramic mug… and the person seemed bothered by that. It felt as impersonal and transactional as going to Starbucks. When you go out of your way to support local businesses you hope for a better experience.

Traveling always involves the best thirdwave coffee shops and Collective exceeded my expectations. The coffee was splendid and the esthetic was my style all the way! I even met a few new people!

Coffee was fine. Coffee cake was stale. Our coffee order took 30 minutes. We saw people that ordered after us getting their drinks so not sure what happened. For the high price and super slow service it’s a pass for me.

I’ve been here twice since moving to the area and they are always personable and friendly. Today they had a sourdough “vendor” and it was great, too. I would love to see them add a coffee option with a natural sweetener like maple syrup or honey, but I may have just missed it. Great place to get some work done, too.

Coffee is good. Pastries were eh. The staff weren’t busy and it took 20 minute to get my coffee and pastries.

My friends and I had a great time at this spacious, beautifully decorated coffee shop! I loved how quiet and peaceful it was—the perfect place to bring a book, journal, or do a word search. The customer service from Raleigh and the petite young lady was truly A+! And the coffee? Absolutely delicious. I love to “live in a cup,” enjoying the moment with every sip.
