Good quality 100% vegetarian food / menu and bakery. Consistent good taste on menu items.
Extremely frustrating experience. We ordered our food and received everything except for one dish. An hour into our service, the hostess informed us they are running late on that dish. I requested to cancel that order and asked for the cheque, letting them know I had to get to an appointment. But every 5 minutes a staff member showed up apologizing and saying the dish is almost done. 30 more minutes later and after multiple requests to cancel that dish and bring the cheque I started getting upset and demanded the cheque. They show up with the dish that I had no time to eat. I ended up with a takeout. It almost felt like we were being held against our will. I should have refused to pay for the dish.

We ordered a butterscotch half-sheet cake from Honest McKinney Indian Vegetarian Restaurant & Bakery for my son’s birthday, and it was truly one of the best cakes we’ve ever had!
The cake was perfectly moist, rich in flavor, and beautifully done. Every single guest at the party loved it and kept asking where we ordered it from—there wasn’t even a single piece left! You can really feel the care and quality they put into their baking.
Highly recommend Honest McKinney for anyone looking for authentic Indian flavors and top-quality vegetarian desserts. We will definitely be back for more celebrations! 🎂✨

Extremely Unsafe Food and poor response !!
I had a very disturbing experience at Honest today. We ordered veg puffs, and the very first one I cut into was moldy and had a terrible smell inside. We immediately drove back to the restaurant to show them, expecting at least concern for customer safety.
Instead, the lady at the front simply looked at it, did not acknowledge the issue, and casually asked if we wanted to replace it with something else. There was absolutely no way we were going to buy anything else after seeing mold in their food.
What shocked us even more was that when we told them to remove the rest of the puffs from the counter to prevent other customers from getting sick, she refused. She insisted the others were “good” and took no action at all to ensure food safety.
This is completely unacceptable. Serving moldy food and then refusing to address a clear health hazard shows zero responsibility or care for customers. I will not be returning and strongly urge others to be cautious.

Initially food used to be amazing.
But last visit to honest was not good at all. Food quality is degraded a lot.
I visited Honest McKinney and was disappointed with the overall experience. The food was extremely salty and lacked flavor, which made it hard to enjoy the dishes. Service was also below expectations. Before we could even finish our meal, the server repeatedly came by and tried to take the plates, which felt rushed and uncomfortable.
After serving the food, no one checked in to ask if we needed anything or if the meal was okay. Despite the poor service, there was still an expectation for a tip. Overall, the visit felt unsatisfactory, and the restaurant did not meet basic standards for food quality or hospitality. Will never return.

A restaurant made me nostalgic of days eating pav bhaji at Law Garden Ahmedabad. Same taste. Same execution. Service is good. Staff is courteous and knowledgeable except some non-gujju staff members who are not good at explaining dishes they serve but it's obvious. Loved the ambience. Felt like I'm back home.
Only hiccup was that they didn't have knife and their fork and spoons are of not equal size making it uncomfortable for the folks who eat with cutlery.
Edit 10/17/19: From 5 to 4 stars:
As a dedicated reviewer on Google, I’m updating my recent experience. Back in time I gave 5 stars, but I feel compelled to rethink the rating.
Sharp at 9:01pm 4 of us came in to the restaurant. We ordered 2 pav bhaji 1 noodles 1 dosa. At 9:43 3 of us finished eating. But 1 of us didn’t get his dosa. Nobody had a clue what’s the status and worst than that nobody cared. Keeping at 4 stars because fairly at the time of billing they took out that dosa. But money cannot buy the missed feeling of eating together and compensate the hunger wait period while everyone’s eating.

We ordered a custom chocolate cake and were able to get it in just few hours just as pictured and so so yummy! Thank the owner for taking our last minute request and delivering beyond our expectations. Best part is they never say no for any requests, they will make it happen.

We picked up Rasmalai on the noon of 8/31/2025 and it turned out to be stale. Manager didn’t want to talk to us on the phone. We had to drive down there again just to talk to him, he insinuated that we were lying and stood by his stale product. We went there for an apology but faced utter disrespect!
We got a refund but the embarrassment we faced with our guests due to stale food still remains, which is invaluable to us.
On principle I’ll never come back here. Thanks to the free market and availability of good quality veg Indian food options around me, I don’t have to face this ordeal ever again.

We order from Honest a lot and since it has opened. We have noticed the downgrade but still bought from this restaurant because we liked the food. However, I ordered some food today (08/30/25) and we were extremely disappointed. I ordered mini idli, which we have ordered numerous times before, but this time they gave me 10 small idli that are so small it’s a ripoff. These 10 almost coin sized idli were 8.99 and didn’t even come with sambar/chutney. This restaurant shouldn’t be called ‘Honest’, more like ‘Dishonest’.
