Great staff and great pizza in the heart of downtown

I went to Mellow Mushroom in Williamsburg Virginia and the pizza was awesome! Came home to Mckinney and expected the same great pizza and I was disappointed. The pizza was mostly bread not enough sauce or cheese and very dry.

Food was great ofc but while showing off this place to my friend service is absolutely TERRIBLE. We waited an hour or more for our SMALL pizza to come just to get the wrong order from our server, just to wait for another 30-60 minutes to finally get our order. Usually I love this place but terrible order as our server lady forgot we existed and our small pizza that we were sharing had to take nearly 2 hours to arrive

What happened to this awesome restaurant ???I’ve been here a dozen times over the last 2-3 years. Last two times it looks and feels like a disaster. Tables are left dirty for 20-30 minutes at a time, the doors and windows are open and bugs are sitting on dirty tables.Came yesterday, was told 20 minute wait, 1 hour later we started noticing the restaurant is empty, maybe 5-6 tables occupied the rest are empty with dirty dishes and left overs. People walking out complaining how bad the service was.The staff is walking around confused making jokes with each other. Reminds me of the old blockbuster days, where all the employees thought they were “cool”.Very sad, hope corporate or a franchise owner makes a change in management and fixes their issues.We ended up leaving and driving to blue goose for a late lunch.Google only allows one review per person, I edited my positive review from the past for this negative one !!!

The pizza is amazing and a large cheese with no additional toppings is $14 which is a steal to almost every other pizza joint in DFW. While I am not a fan of pizza crust at most places, Mellow Mushroom has the best and it has pleasant flavor and chewiness to it. The only thing I think they could improve on is service. We’ve had the same waitress twice and both times, my boyfriend and I noticed she never once came back after getting our orders. We have to flag other wait staff to get the check and refills. We’re not very big on service and care more about the food so it’s not that big of a deal. I would just take into account that if you’re on a tight schedule, it could take 30 minutes to get your check after you finish eating.
