Ordered in 2 mushroom burgers (buy 1 get 1 on Uber eats) and 1 order of tots. The burgers were so tasty, juicy, perfect seasoning. Just amazing! The order of tots we shared? They filled up our burger container with tots. They are good but the burger definitely star of the show. We both loved it!!

Our go-to spot for a good burger at a reasonable price. The small fries is more than enough for 2 people.

If you grew up hearing to never press the burger patty white it's cooking, know that you can forgive your parents but it's time to admit they were wrong. The prevailing wisdom was that smashing the patty would cause the juices to drain from the beef leaving you with a dry burger. But what actually happens when you quickly smash the patty is that you get a nice sear on the outer edge and this locks the moisture from the beef fat in so the burger is more moist and more flavorful. That searing is called the Maillard reaction and it's what gives seared beef that hint of umami flavor on the edges. This term smash burger has gotten a little confused because of the chain with that name (who does smash the patty) and now with the burger served by another popular fast food chain (who frustratingly does not smash the patty). There's no law against either but know that the term has a broader meaning. One and Only Burgers does smash the patty properly and that's why you want to come try this burger. The other burger ingredients are also fresh and flavorful but I wished they were a little more generous with them as the cheese and vegetables don't quite cover the smashed patty edge to edge--perhaps from a desire to not overpower the flavorful burger patty so this may be a matter of preference. Their fixings list is more extensive than most places and they don't charge extra for them--nice for the inclusion of options like mushrooms and pineapple. No fried egg, unfortunately! They also have some sauce options including a Signature Sauce which is quite similar to Mac Sauce, comeback sauce, Russian dressing or whatever name you know it by--but theirs has a slight hint of spiciness which works well. Their fries are the fresh variety and have a slightly thicker cut and stronger potato flavor than fast food chains. I prefer the flavor but these style fries seem to always come with the drawback of being floppy rather than crispy. Maybe you can ask for well done and I'll try that next time but I think you just can't have McDonald's level crispy without the reformed frozen potato mash and sugar. Somebody please prove me wrong. I did opt for the "zesty fries" upgrade which in contrast with the burger fixings incurred a small up-charge of 25 cents. This added what tasted like a vinegar tang and something akin to Cajun seasoning. They also put a small cup of the aforementioned Signature Sauce in the bag. I could go either way on the zesty upgrade but the Signature Sauce does make a nice fry dip if you want something other than ketchup. Real ice cream shakes were on the menu, also, and the flavors listed included mango and Pina colada. I tried the Pina colada but to my tongue it tasted nothing like that. Instead, it tasted like a very strong vanilla and this wasn't really to my liking. If I were to order a shake again there I might try chocolate. That vanilla was overpowering and it was definitely the worst part of my visit. But if you do love vanilla, give it a shot. As you may gather, the smash patty burgers are the absolute star of the show here and for that I would rank the flavor of their burgers as among the very best in DFW. For me that puts them on a short list with Kincaid's and Keller's Drive In and way better than all the fancy pants expensive places. Don't miss it if you're in the area.
