Sugarbacon is one of my favorite restaurants downtown! The food & service are always good.

Enjoyed the patio on a beautiful day and ordered the mimosa flight, Bloody Mary, chilaquiles, and steak & eggs (medium rare) with my husband. Everything was delicious — truly a 10/10 brunch experience! Our server, Shawn, was very prompt and attentive. We’ll definitely be returning!

Had a pleasant day. Brunch menu up for grabs. Our waiter Sean was a delight 😊. We were hopeful than to get more than just Brunch, but satisfied with the 2 things ordered. Cozy place. Limited noise, but inviting for date night. 2nd time here.
Great for couples to just get away. Thank you Sean for making the visit and Brunch a pleasant one. 🎊

Came for Valentine’s Day and they overcharge you by only offering a Valentine’s Day menu. Pretty expensive for the food quality. I got charged more for a regular martini than an espresso martini, like bruh how does that happen? Other than that the place is pretty solid.

Made reservations for Valentines Day. They advertised a valentines menu, vaguely, on their instagram and Facebook, but did not show that menu anywhere, or mention that the regular menu wouldn’t be available. (Everything on the valentines menu is on the regular menu, by the way.) We had already decided what we wanted based on their website photos, and now we’re sitting here quite disappointed because not a single thing we wanted to try was on the “limited valentines menu”. I’ll update my rating if we decide to come back and actually get to try the real menu.
Great food and drinks. The short ribs and brisket tacos are just a couple of our favorites. The shrimp and grits is also outstanding! Crispy Brussels Sprouts are so good!

Went for brunch. Service and atmosphere were great! Unfortunately the food was a let down. Dishes were either bland or had weird flavor combinations (shrimp and grits with bbq sauce and chopped watermelon). Just not our vibe.

Went on a Sunday and was given a full menu, went to order and was told that only the brunch menu was being served. We drove almost 2 hours to come try the restaurant so we were disappointed.
The purple haze was pretty cool with the lavender smoke. $16 was a bit pricey but it was a neat experience. Our cocktails took quite a bit of time, almost 15 minutes.
Lastly, their menu has no description of what the meal includes so when we ordered the French toast it had a lot of fruit and cream, which was lovely but would be a concern for someone with allergies. Plus, we asked for no pickles on our spicy chicken sandwich, pickles were on it and there wasn't any flavor to the sandwich.

Came on Feb 2, 2026 with my wife and 3 daughters. Absolutely brutally bad service. Really no excuse for it either, as honestly there were maybe 4-5 tables filled in the entire place at once on a Monday night. We were seated immediately, then no one came to us for 20 minutes. I had to get up to find someone to ask when we'd see someone. Couple wait staff walked by our table multiple times and ignored us. Finally someone came by, apologized, and said it was a miscommunication. Service remained awful all night though. Food was solid, but I just don't see going back. Plenty of good options in downtown McKinney.

Was greeted by one of the owners as soon as we walked in! I will say I showed up 30 minutes before closing and asked if I was too late. He told me not at all and proceeded to accommodate me the rest of the night like nowhere else! Great guy who truly cares about his establishment! Not to mention his great employees! I believe Jess was our waitress and she was amazing! Can’t say enough good things about my experience! Food was off the charts as well! 10 out of 10

My wife and I tried Sugar Bacon for brunch on January 18. I had the avocado toast and my wife had the shrimp and grits. We also had espresso martinis and sangria. All were excellent! Thanks to Mallory for her superb service. We will be back soon!

Awesome place, great food. The owner stopped by and said hello. Real good dude! Enjoyed a 50th birthday get together with friends. Highly recommend! The steak bites are fire!

Great place. The food was fantastic. The service was a bit odd, we had like 3-4 people besides our server wait on us, at one point forgot which was my server. The service was excellent, but I did not know who to flag down if I needed. The atmosphere was o.k., I felt like the rushed to open the restaurant so the decor may have suffered a bit. But it is nice. Overall I look forward to my next visit.

My fillet Pappardelle was fantastic. The flavor was spot on, smokey, and spicy. I loved it. My husband had the chicken burger and liked it, but said that it wasn't anything incredibly special. His tater tots were light and crispy. The wine selection is good. My only regret is ordering the Caesar salad as the lettuce had a lot of brown spots. I re-ordered one and it had fewer brown spots, but they were still there. This place is adorable, but maybe skip the salad.
I’ve tried it 3 times because others suggest it and the food has never been good. Quality not how it’s executed. This is the ‘steak’ I ordered medium rare. It was so far from what I know steak to look and taste.
