Everything was going well til the bill arrived. We were a party of 5 with two separate bills. We paid our bills, but before we could leave the waiter said she accidentally under charged us and asked us to pay more, even after we left nice tips. One receipt was undercharged by $3. The other was undercharged by $9. It just seemed shady if not petty.
After discussing with the seemingly apathetic waiter and manager for 10 minutes we finally forked over the extra $12 they say we owed (which is about what we tipped on the first bill any way). This situation was just badly handled so doubt we'll be returning.

This was our first visit to the Stix icehouse. It was awesome. Our server, Charlie, she made us feel very comfortable and even brought samples to us. There was a large crowd, but the food came out within 5-10 minutes. Our drinks never went empty and she kept bringing us chips. Super impressed. Very family oriented place. We will be back!!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Stix Icehouse and had the BEST experience. Jonah, our server, went above and beyond all night. He was quick, fun, super professional, and made sure I had everything I needed without me ever having to ask. Jake, our bartender, was incredible too. He was friendly, attentive, and kept the drinks flowing with great energy.
The whole night was smooth, relaxed, and honestly even better than we hoped for. Huge thanks to the Stix Icehouse team for helping kick off our wedding weekend in the best way! Highly recommend for any event or celebration.

Also, the waitress mentioned that she couldn’t hear us repeatedly when she was taking our order and she mentioned she would ask to turn the music down (her suggestion but we agreed). She came back and said “the manager” said no and that she would rather turn the music up! Probably won’t be returning.

Just sharing our experience tonight at The Stix Icehouse in McKinney, Texas so other parents know what to expect. We walked in thinking it was a cute, family-friendly spot the lights, the décor, the whole atmosphere gives off a cozy, country restaurant vibe. But then my 11-year-old pointed out this picture hanging on the wall… and my 3-year-old literally would not stop staring at it.
It’s a framed photo of a grown, almost completely naked man holding a newborn on his lap. It caught me off guard, and honestly it made my kids uncomfortable. I ended up putting a napkin over it just so my 3-year-old would stop fixating on it.
I kindly brought it to the manager’s attention and explained that in a family restaurant, especially one where people bring little kids, this picture is disturbing and inappropriate. Her response was that the owner decorated the place, multiple people have complained before me, and the owner refuses to remove it or cover it. She even took the napkin off and said she couldn’t allow it to stay covered.
I’m not the type to complain, but when my kids are pointing it out and staring at it, and when other families have reportedly said the same thing, it’s frustrating that the owner doesn’t care about how it affects families who dine there.
Just wanted to share the full story because if you’re bringing kids here, be aware this picture is on the wall in plain view and the staff won’t cover it or move it.
Just plain disturbing in my opinion so I just wanted to share to see if anybody else has the same thoughts?
