Best breakfast in Mexia. Other food is also great. The staff is prompt, professional, and best of all, friendly. Highly recommend this cafe.

Solid cafe. Will have to go back (perhaps when it isn't so busy) to re-evaluate.

We went to the Countryside Cafe for breakfast. and were told to sit anywhere we liked. We sat there for at least 10 to 12 min before anyone even brought us menus. We were in a bit of a time crunch as we had a business appointment in about 45 min.
We ordered coffee when we finally got menus. The coffee came and our server went around chatting with other customers before finally coming back to take our orders. I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash browns with toast for 9.00. My husband ordered a waffle for 4.99 and a small milk. We had to wait an additional 20-25 minutes for it to be served and when it was, everything was ICE COLD. I didn't get the hasbrowns I ordered instead I got home fries. My husband never got his milk. Since we were in a time crunch we asked for to go boxes. Our bill came to 23.00 (Last time I checked 4.99 plus 9.00 was 13.99) We were charged for the milk which he didn't get and I'm pretty certain two cups of coffee isn't 9.00. I gave the food two stars because once we got it home and could heat it up it was very good and I'm sure it would have been 4 stars if it was served hot and in a timely fashion. If I could have given 0 for service I would have. The hardest working person in there was a little boy bussing tables who looked to be 8 or 9 years old. We WON'T go back and unless you have an hour or more, I don't recommend you go either.

The food was very good. The staff was very attentive and we had a large party. The place is not real big but accommodating. I've been coming to Mexia for years and never noticed the place. Now I know and will definitely come again.

Good for, good prices, good service. Can't ask for much better. I had chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, and mash potatoes. My husband had chicken fried steak. Both were delicious. Their ranch was great too. Highly recommend

A friend and I ate at the countryside Café a couple weeks ago and enjoyed our visit there. The food was decent and the prices were fair.

We live in Buffalo, TX, and the closest cat groomer we could find was in Mexia. We’d driven through there several times, but never stopped. We dropped our cat off and asked the girls there about a good place for lunch while we waited. Countryside Cafe was recommended. They weren’t wrong. The place isn’t fancy or upscale, but we like simple, down-home places the best. The waitress greeted us immediately and was pleasant and helpful the entire visit. My husband had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and okra. He said the meat was very tender and moist, and he loved the mashed potatoes because they had real lumps of potato in them. He said the sweet tea was very good, too. I had the jalapeño fried chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were delicious but the sandwich was amazing! The batter had just the right amount of jalapeño in it - enough to feel it in your mouth, but not so much that your mouth burns. The chicken was moist and tender, easy to eat. (My husband and I suggested to the waitress that they may want to consider offering a jalapeño chicken fried steak or chicken for those of us who enjoy a bit of spiciness). And the prices were very reasonable. Anyway, if we’re in Mexia again, we’ll definitely go back.

Amazing lunches for very affordable prices. It might be a bit of a wait but the food is worth it.

Got there at 6:57 on a Friday and lady said they were closed. Asked what time they close and they said Friday at 7. Well it wasn’t 7 yet and should have taken us. Don’t close till 7 but would take us even when we got there before 7. Not really keen on liars.

Wonderful food at reasonable prices. My shrimp tasted like it just came out of the Gulf. Wife's CFS was huge and tender.

This place is amazing, the food is amazingly awesome, fresh, not skimpy. The staff is a family and treat as such regardless if it’s your first time or 100th time. Whatever you order you’re sure to love as I haven’t had a bad dish from this spot and I recommend it to any and everyone.
