What a Gem in the middle of nowhere. Was making a road trip home from Texas to Florida and needed something good to eat and boy did this place do me right. The staff was very pleasant and the food was just what I was looking for.

The food is not the same as it was a few years ago and the waiters are nice and friendly but it's not the same.
Have yall changed management within the last 10 years?
We are from out of town and stumbled onto this place. When we went in we noticed that there was a group of 2 large families sitting in the restaurant. To me, that means the food must be good, because in this economy, you won't take family out for bad food. I had the fried bologna sandwich and my wife had chicken fried steak. We also had fried green tomatoes. Food was excellent. We went to pay and that's when I noticed the 2 pictures of the DPS Troopers on the counter with the license plate. As an officer that has lost a coworker in the line of duty, this meant the world to me. Even though I didn't work with these guys and didn't know them, it was an honor to see them remembered. If we're back in Mexia, we'll eat here again.

Called ahead for take out, waited at the window for 15mi minutes. Everything was cold. The guy at the window had a bad attitude like we were bothering him. Paid $36 for bad food and bad attitude. Never again. Avoid this place!

I Was here not too long ago with an organization, and I found out that this place literally took advantage of a non-profit organization. By charging them 40$ a head for about 50 people and only served 2 trays of meat, one of veggies, one of mashed potatoes, a pan of rolls. And salad with sweet tea and pie. Sure, it sounds good, but when you do the math, that's 2000 $ for 50 people.... and that was only enough meat for people to only choose one meat (small piece) and a little bit of the rest. So we had to be frugal with how much we took. It was a total rip off, for a non-profit organization (a church). It's not worth it, and I do not recommend this place. Don't waste your time. The price and the taste were not worth my time or my fellow brothers and sisters.

Staff was friendly. Took over 20 min to get my chicken sandwich and fries. Fries were more small pieces but still good.

The food was mediocre at best. The broccoli cheese soup was actively bad. The menu has shrunk and some of the best staff were not there. This place has gone downhill and we likely will not be back.
