Checked in and was greeted by Jessica, I told her I had a Service Dog, she had to call and ask if there was a fee for a service animal. Next thing was the horrid smell on the upper floors and in our room. Sprayed some room spray and left to get some dinner. When we came back the smell was worse, went to front desk and told Jessica that we needed to get a refund because we couldn’t stand the smell. She called her manager and we were granted the refund. The service was great, the room was very clean, the exterior was nice it was just the horrid smell that we couldn’t stand. I really don’t think that was “swamp gas” I think the property was having sewer.

We arrived late in the afternoon after a long day’s drive. Carrying some of our clothing on hangers, we were looking for the closet when we entered our room… but couldn’t find it. We hung the clothing wherever we could find a spot, like door facings or cabinet doors. Next morning after dressing in slacks, coat and tie, and cking myself out in the full length mirror, I noticed that IT was the door to a very ample closet. All in all, we really liked this H.I.X.

Nice clean modern hotel. The staff was friendly and made check in and out easy. Room was large and comfortable. It was quiet and bed comfortable. Room had a microwave, fridge and Keurig. Breakfast each day was hot and fresh. It's right off the highway and a short drive to downtown walk to deli and a few other stores. Great price for area.

I stayed here a year ago and vowed never to return because 1. Parking charge is a rip-off, as another guest said, and 2. the front desk person is probably tired of hearing about it from guests and it showed in her attitude, and 3. The website STILL, a year later, says "free parking". Misrepresentation, to say the least.

First off I'd like to say but I always stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels whenever I'm on the road. I find that usually they're the best value for my dollar with clean rooms decent beds and friendly service. That being said I stopped at the Holiday Inn Express in Midland Texas I found the person at the desk be very snotty and condescending. I was also charged a $7 fee to park my car in the parking lot. I have never been charged at any Holiday Inn Express ever anywhere to park my car... After all I am paying to stay there. I would have understood had they wanted my plate number and information on my car for parking. I'm very disappointed with this local chain.... And I will make it a point to not stay hear my next time through Midland. After all who the hell walks in west Texas!!!

This hotel has two things that make it really exceptional. One is its easy access. Turn north off of I-20onto FM 349/ the Rankin Hwy. Then almost immediately turn left onto Crump St. It's right there. The other is Kari. Right after we checked in, Kari told my wife that if we needed to stay another day, it would be no problem. The next morning there was three inches of snow on the ground. Kari said that she had told the rest of the staff that if they were not comfortable driving then don't. And she advised me not to get onto the highway. This is just an example of her genuine kindness. Later in the day I looked at the roads again. TxDot had done a marvelous job of clearing them. It was well after check out time before we started heading home again.

Gave this hotel a poor rating due to the $7.00 parking fee with added tax of over $5.00. The parking is not secure and there are no security cameras for the lot. Had a locked bicycle stolen off my vehicle. Also, The COVID breakfast for Saturday thru Monday is minimal but if you stay Tuesday thru Friday there is a hot substantial breakfast offered- another reason for the poor rating. Furniture in room was very dirty and traffic noise was quite loud. Would not recommend.
