I want something to eat, but didn’t want fast food! So I googled different restaurants and Doris J’s Kitchen popped up. I haven’t had soul food in a long time!! So I decided to stop in and try it out. Very quiet place and clean. The gentleman that waited on me was pleasant. The food was very good!! And well seasoned, I like spicy 🌶️ foods so I had to put hot sauce on my food! Hot sauce wasn’t hot but I made it work. LoL Everything was delicious, I will be back!! Keep up the Great work!!

We ate here when it first opened and were seated quickly. The Kool-Aid wasn’t too sweet—it was just right. Our food came out fast with generous portions, and everything was delicious. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the AC was out, so it was a bit warm inside (though they did have large industrial fans running to help). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, and this spot is definitely worth checking out.

While visiting to Midland i decided to take out at Doris J’s for my first time here and it blew my expectations from how generous the prices were for the meals and individual items.

Customer service was spectacular at the front and my order was done quick and ready for take out, and by far the meat loaf was very very good when I say it.

The sides were also great, decent rice, gravy mashed potatoes were great, and the mac and cheese slight cheesy had flavor to keep eating it.

And the banana pudding was also very tasty as well, I’d say the only thing that could hinder the experience is the inside around, if some music or decor was added, it’ll add a nice touch to the place.

Overall great food and customer service and is always best in my book with portions also very very great to add in.

Would totally recommend this local soul food restaurant.

Y'all... this is the spot to go if you are looking for some down-home soul food! The fried catfish and hushpuppies took me to a fish fry at my Granny's, while the black-eyed peas and cornbread dressing tasted just like Thanksgiving at my Mamaw's. Oh, and I finally found a place that makes sweet tea the right way! The friendly smiling faces make you feel right at home. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a home cooked meal where good food meets great people.

Food was super good, service was impeccable. I got a fried porkchop, green beans, Mac n cheese, and candied yams. My bf got fried chicken, rice, and mashed potatoes and is star stuck haha.

Good country cooking and all the staff are so kind. They have nice baskets of food, like catfish or steakfingers, beef burgers or vegetarian burgers, meat dishes and Vegetable Plates with options like candied yams, green beans, fried okra, fries, macaroni and cheese, and much much more. Some of us go together for Sunday Lunch.
