I don’t like to give a bad review, but I have tried to contact the owner to no avail. I think it’s important for a business owner, to the extent that he is able, to make services available to those who are disabled. Mine was and is a visual disability, and it has made me sensitive to the needs of all who are compromised. I am unable to use a computer because of the glare and so must navigate all websites on my cell phone. This is more difficult with small print on a menu.
My husband asked the hostess if he could take one of the menus to our office downtown and make a copy. We do most of our food as take out and we are good customers! After she asked the manager on duty, her answer was absolutely no. “Ours is not a to go menu”, she said. And yet, they do take and package to go orders. She suggested I contact the owner. I have called him and received no response. I have emailed him with no response.
Other restaurants in town have been gracious to us when we asked for this courtesy and accommodation. We were both supporters of Chip Hight when he opened Opal’s years ago. At that time, we most frequently dined inside. Now, we are older and prefer to dine at home. Why should this matter? And, why shouldn’t there be an accommodation for that choice when a customer needs assistance and help? I am not trying to steal the menu. I just want to be able to use it! Wouldn’t that be the right thing to do?

Opal’s Table is one of those places I keep coming back to because everything they touch just works. The Brussels sprouts alone will ruin other restaurants for you. They’re so ridiculously good you start wondering why every other sprout you’ve ever met tasted like punishment instead of whatever miracle is happening here. If all they did was serve their Brussels on a platter in the middle of a sandbox they would still get 5 stars!

And then there’s the lobster mac. The cheese pull is dramatic in the best way. Slow, stretchy, and exactly what you want when you’re pretending to be civilized, but are holding in your inner 5 year old.

The drinks hit just as hard. Their Moscow mule is crisp and clean, and their Amaretto sour might be one of the best in town. Balanced, smooth, and just bold enough to make you forget you came in with a plan... Or a man..

The ambiance ties it all together. It’s housed in a historic downtown Midland building that still has its old charm. Warm, classy, and comfortable. And if you head downstairs, the basement gives full Speakeasy energy. Low lighting, a cool vibe, and the kind of spot where you half expect someone to whisper a secret code word. Beware that you 100% will loose track of all time in that basement.

This place never disappoints. Good food, strong drinks, and a setting that makes every visit feel like you’re tucked into something special.

I have to say, my experience was so much better than expected! I’ve eaten at this restaurant several times since they opened years ago, and it’s always been ok to good. The menu has had its ups and downs but everything was phenomenal today. The service was great and the menu had so many appealing options. My family ordered the sweet potatoes for an appetizer and they were a hit. For the meal, I had shrimp tacos and they were so good. My entire family raved about their meals! Restaurants seem to slowly decline in the Permian Basin, but that’s not the case with Opal’s Table. Wow, good job, guys! I will be returning soon!

One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in Midland. Quality of food & service reminds me of the best restaurants in Houston. Staff was very attentive, especially with our 1 yr old daughter.

Great place in downtown Midland. Food was really good. Between our group, we tried quite a few different dishes. Truffle Fries and Crispy Brussels were a hit for appetizers. I personally had the Trout which were good. They're allegedly famous for their Chicken Fried Steak. Got to have a bite of it and it was probably the best I've ever had. Service started out great but suffered as the dinner progressed and the restaurant filled up. Specialty cocktails were good but overpriced. We ate downstairs in the basement which was neat. However, it's extremely loud and we were practically yelling at each other to hear one another. Really need to invest in some sound dampers. Spent about $300 for a table of 4. Probably will be back.

We had a reservation downstairs which had an amazing vibe to it. The music was calm and the service was 5/5 everything was brought in a timely manner. Salads were before the entire thank gosh because no one ever gets that correct. We had a couple cocktails from bonded on the rock, which sour, and a very refreshing drink named cucumber gimlet.
5/5 on the gimlet wow ⭐
Next is the entrees my husband had the ribeye med rare which looked and tasted phenomenal hats off to the chef.🥩⭐
Myself and our two friends had the chicken fried chicken which was horrible. It was extremely chewy and the breading was so thick. I expected more in as very disappointed.
Restrooms are very clean. 5/5
My husband paid $200 which seems too much when my chichen was $38. His steak was $58 I believe. The steak was worth it not the chick.
My friend and her husband paid the same and they both had chicken so I was a bit confused.

But at the end of the day it was a beautiful establishment and the service was great.

Just the food that made it give it 2 stars. Especially at those prices the chicken should have been amazing.
