My husband and I just drove my family up to have a nice lunch but it seems the place burnt down. we are heart broken as this was one of our favorite spots to eat!

The food was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately the restaurant caught fire after we left...So very sad! I pray everybody got out safely and it wasn't a total loss.

My husband and I stopped by this place after a long day in the heat, and absolutely loved it. I ordered the Hunter Schnitzel and he got the Classic Wurst. The portions were massive, but we were both amazed at how much of our food we managed to eat! The food is simple, but cooked perfectly, and combined with the right sides (spaetzle, sauerkraut, pickled cucumber, house mustard) it was to die for. Service was friendly and prompt. We'll definitely come here again the next time we're in town!

Amazing food! You can tell everything is made from scratch. Waitress very knowledgeable about beer recommendations. Salmon with lobster sauce is a MUST TRY!!!! Huge portions! Friendly service.

My family was in New Braunfels this Saturday, and we stopped to have dinner before heading to the drive in movie theater. The first 2 places we stopped were "tried and true" popular restaurants in New Braunfels, and they also were packed with hour long waits (no time for that). So as we were aimlessly driving toward the theatre, we saw Friesenhaus. There were spots in the lot, and open tables inside. We were seated immediately, and the staff was very friendly, especially to my young children. Beer selection was nice and German. Mom mom would want anyone reading this to know that the bathrooms were excellent. Very clean and well maintained, like the rest of the restaurant. As far as the food: we were all impressed. I had Bratwurst with sauerkraut and German potatoes. Sausage had good flavor, and the sauerkraut was a bit generic (but ok). The potatoes were fantastic, though. My dad is German, my mom is Irish. So my family knows good potatoes. nice blend of bacon and onions, with well cut and perfectly cooked potatoes. Others had the Reuben, which got rave reviews, and the french fries were nicely battered and delicious. I have been to the bigger name places in New Braunfels, and they are good too. But if you want a nice family meal that tastes great without all the fuss, Friesenhaus may be the place for you.

We went at 9:15 on a Saturday. Despite the fact that they close at 10, we were greeted enthusiastically and had a great meal. The Reuben sandwich was the best I've ever had - the beef was not chewy at all and it had great flavor. The beer potato soup was very good - it's broth based not creamy. Cucumber salad was so fresh and really the perfect complement to the heavier food.

Just about all the dishes and sides we had were impressive and traditional and I really like the German beer selection. The only criticism I can make is that there is nothing special interesting about the schnitzel without the different styles of sauces/toppings. The base schnitzel is the same for all and very plain... toppings make up for it though.

Went for lunch, they offer a wonderful $9 special, where at most places the sides are a bland afterthought, the sides at Friesenhaus were flavorful, diverse, and we'll executed. The gravy on the schnitzel did not seem to be from a packet, and there were actual jalapenos flavoring the "Texan" version. The draft selection included over 12 German beers. Would highly recommend, I'm still on a quest to find the best schnitzel in NB, but so far this place may take the crown.

Dropped by for a pork schnitzel and was very impressed. Had the Texas Schnitzel, which has a delicious cream sauce with jalapeí±o. The thing was HUGE, which used to be how I judged food, but it was also delicious, which is more important to me as I age. Also ordered a large Dunkel beer. Mistake. I thought that would be maybe 24oz., but it had to have been a half gallon. Great beer, but I had to walk away from half of it. Anyway, the red cabbage was tasty, the fried potatoes were okay, but the pork schnitzel was the reason I'll go back. Oh, and my waitress was very friendly.

This place has great service and amazing food! The portion size was nice, not “Texas” size but not small but any means. Just right, like home size. The only draw back I could find was they did not have sweet tea...come on you're in Texas, lol. Other than that it was delicious.
