Why are there recent positive reviews for this place? It's been closed for months. How hard is it to tell the public you're closed? I won't ever come back even when it opens again
Was in NB for a get together and needed to kill a couple of hours. Stopped by TJ’s for a couple of beers and appetizers. First no host at door, sat down and a young lady came up and said someone would be with us soon. Watched as servers walked by, on phones, finally went to bar and got my own brew. First young lady, I’m guessing by now a manager, apologized and had a server come by. She was interesting, started by saying “ sorry, you guys probably won’t tip me”, huh? The first clue we should’ve had was an empty parking lot on a Saturday football afternoon. The kicker was the men’s room, wow, let’s just say the urine smell would permeate your clothing. What’s surprising is we frequent the TJ’s in San Antonio, it’s a first class operation. Like night and day. Avoid the NB location, horrible.
The new waitress didn't have a trainer with her and she clearly had not been trained. Don't blame her. Management should have someone with her til she learns the basics. The patio was cool and breezy but children playing while the back patio gate was broken and haphazardly on the ground. Cobwebs on all the tables and no offer to clean before eating. The location and atmosphere were a good idea but upkeep and attention to details were severely lacking.

This place is not it. The new manager greets you with the warmth of a DMV clerk on her worst day, clearly thriving on the tiny thrill of telling people “no.” Pretty sure she’s allergic to Joy and gets off making the employees hate their job
And the owner? Well, nothing says “family dining” like ditching yours to chase after a server who probably still gets asked for her student ID at the movie theater. The whole place feels less like a restaurant and more like a low-budget reality show no one asked to watch.
The food? Honestly, I couldn’t tell you. Hard to eat when you’re choking on secondhand embarrassment.
This place has gone completely downhill. I’ve seen this building change hands several times, and Tommy Johns Tailgate is by far the worst version yet. Food is overpriced, the service is rude, and the atmosphere feels neglected and unsanitary.
The new management has made things even worse — instead of improving the place, they’ve cut hours, lowered standards, and seem more focused on walking around looking “in charge” than actually fixing problems.
To top it off, the sanitation is so bad you’ll be side-eyeing the walls and floors wondering what might crawl by next. (And I’m not just talking about insects) If you’re thinking about coming here for food or drinks, save your money and go literally anywhere else in New Braunfels.

Very fun. Was there for a college football game and had all the kids there, good food. Would recommend.

I stopped here for the first time this afternoon. Cooling down after golf lessons at @thebanditgolfclub. Best friendliest bartender Stephanie recommended The League of Their Own, a very refreshing and yummy Grey Goose Peach and Rosemary infusion with cranberry, lemon, lime, and soda. Great day, we learned how to chip balls today and I won the student drill with closest ball to the hole 😎🤘⛳️🏌♀️ and then I had a wonderful experience in a friendly but classy Sports Bar.

We were served a nacho dish with a black blob on top of it which turned out to be guacamole 🥑. I understand that it is difficult to maintain good quality foods when business is slow, but a black guacamole should have never been put on top of the nachos by the cook, who is ultimately responsible, besides the server. We will never eat anything at this place again.

Honestly if there was a way to leave zero stars I would. This was the worst visit I have ever had in a while. The food takes a long time to come out even if you’re just ordering the chips and the queso. There have been instances I’ve been here and they false advertise on their menu. They don’t even carry pizza anymore but have yet to announce it so you’re in for a shock once you walk in expecting pizza and them telling you they don’t carry it, but it’s advertised. They changed all the sauces on the wings and so what’s on the menu isn’t what you’re receiving. I ordered the Texas Honey BBQ wings the other day and they tasted like onion! I asked my server if these were BBQ and she confirmed they were and then came back and let me know they changed it to some chipotle raspberry BBQ or something. The manager was friendly but it seemed fake and forced, she also was dressed as if she were an 19 year old girl. That was the skimpiest skirt I’ve ever seen & it was very unprofessional in my opinion. None of the employees looked happy to be there and were just standing around waiting for tables because they get ZERO service here and it’s not for no reason.
