The food is good, but the staff is consistently unprepared and unhelpful. They’re frequently out of basic items on the menu—not due to lack of supply, but because they fail to prepare them. For example, the last 2 times I’ve been they were out of potatoes simply because no one had cooked them.
Customer service is extremely poor across the board. Communication is lacking, and the staff seems disinterested in resolving even simple issues.
Today was the final straw. I waited 20 minutes for what turned out to be only half of my order. It turns out they never rang me up for the other half, and no one communicated that to me. I was not asked if I wanted a substitute, nor was I given the option to adjust my order. When I asked about the rest, I was told it would be another 40 minutes—after already being quoted 15 minutes in the beginning.. when I thought it had been ordered.
At this point, it’s just not worth the frustration. I won’t be returning.
Service excellent, food same, had the 1 meat plate brisket, greens, beans. All were exceptional. Had to sit outside or take away, bummer.

Only 4 stars for the headache in booking a catering event, I have been trying to book HEB True TX BBQ for a catering event. It has been somewhat of a headache, but Zander has been SUPER helpful throughout the process and escalated the issue to his area manager. I can't recommend Zander enough.
