Pretty darn good if you are not wanting to drive to Beaumont. The food was really good. I like ginger, however I was not a fan of the ginger sauce. Got salmon hibachi - large enough serving size for me to take some to go after enjoying the rainbow roll as well.

I'll start with the good...Delicious sushi rolls! We ordered 8 different sushi rolls, fried rice, miso soup, onion soup. No complaints from outer party of 5 on food.Improvements needed: we ordered hot tea, unfortunately they were out of black or green tea bags. We ordered egg rolls, but they were out of egg rolls. The place was mostly empty. We were the second group to be seated for dinner. We needed refills on drinks and our waiter was no where to be found for 15 minutes or more, and there were only three tables with guests at the time.I'm sure we will go back, however our expectations were higher.

I wont sit here and tell anyone the food is bad. I have taken my children and my wife, my friends, and my family here for lunch and dinner. The problem with this place goes far beyond the food and how it taste. Being told by the extremely snooty waitress "Sorry we close in 20 minutes" at 2pm when they close at 2:30pm on Friday. Of course our quick response was " You mean 30 minutes?" We eat lunch there all the time. We are never there longer than 30 minutes! Lol The sad part about this is they told us to sit where we wanted. Let us sit down and wait 3 or 4 minutes before the guy behind the sushi roll bar tells the girl something with this pissy attitude and then the girl brings that high authority narcissist attitude to us sitting down and tells us we have to leave because they close in 20 minutes. I have never had this issue with Kotoyama in Orange TX. Am im here to tell you, I have showed up at 2pm MANY of times and was served lunch. Food Businesses and all other businesses fir that matter have always in this area served up to their closing time. There is an internal issue with this restaurant if thats how they are wanting to conduct buisness and treat the one any only thing that keeps their doors open (The Customer). I will never go back to this establishment again. I refuse to support any buisness in America that does not support its very own people that they serve. Pathetic.

I'm giving a 1 star because I'm submitting my expenses and they charged me extra $5 as a tip i assume but i have the receipt that says $54.58 but my receip say $49.58 and i am 100% sure i didn't pay tip because it would have cost me over $50 and it's a company card so i didn’t want to go over 50 bucks, what kind people...

Good sushi for the golden triangle area. Not hard to beat out the competition though. We went during the soft-opening, and the wait was 1.5 hours, and they were not serving a full menu yet. But they were good about giving us a text in enough time to make it back to the restaurant for our table. We chose to go walk the mall during our wait.Again, sushi was good for around here. Some dishes were very good, and some were not that great. Kinda how it goes on sushi. Server was very energetic, but understandably busy. Food for the price, I walked out of there sideways, and was happy with the amount of the bill. Didn’t feel like I overpaid. Will be back soon for the whole menu options.

Okay I love Kotoyama! The OBE roll is amazing! Tried the killawaver or something like that and it was phenomenal! Love the hibachi steak and chicken dinner! Tried the noodles and now I think I’m going to need to get them every time! They were delicious! The waiter was amazing! We had my daughter and her toddler with us and he was talking to her, picked up the bowl she threw on the floor and even played peek a boo! All while providing excellent service! Now for the down side: the restaurant name sign was not lit up so we almost left because we weren’t sure they were open or not. They had an open sign lit up so we parked and got out, so yes the hours of operation is correct! Second down side, I don’t live in Orange but my daughter does and Kotoyama isn’t on DoorDash, Guebers, or offer delivery. How am I going to be able to get my Kotoyama fix each week when I go babysit now? Hope they consider special delivery for old grannies!!! Truly is an excellent place to eat. Everyone should try it, even if you’re afraid of sushi! They have so much other stuff to try and will help you pick out something if you’re interested in trying some sushi!Vegetarian options: Hibachi vegetablesOnion soupNoodles and several other itemsKid-friendliness: High chairs available, staff is lovely to children

I always order the Obie roll. Can't vouch for the rest of their menu. However, their sushi is prepared very well.

Our first time to Kotoyama. We found Kotoyama on TripAdviso while we were passing thru Orange TX. for the night. We were greeted by a friendly server, (Hailey), who invited us to sit where we desired. She promptly brought us our menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. Since the soda machine was out of order, both my wife and I ordered sweet tea. It was lacking taste and was extremely weak. Not so great and when Hailey asked us how it was, we told her. As for food, my wife ordered a bowl of white rice and a Philadelphia roll. Myself, I ordered a seaweed salad and thick noodles with beef and shrimp. My wife was almost immediately brought her rice, a good 5 minutes before her roll. This was odd as she had to eat it alone as it would have been cold by the time she was served her roll. The roll itself was very good with a large piece of cream cheese and salmon in each piece. My seafood salad was normal and the noodle dish was very good with lots of flavor. One thing that we were not appreciative of was that even before we finished our meal, the server brought us our bill, a big "no-no" in the restaurant business. The prices were very affordable. Overall, apart from the three negative things that I mentioned, the meal was good.

I took off one star because the fried tofu was soggy from condensation of the to-go container. The rolls and seaweed salad are always great, nice laid back atmosphere too.

Unacceptable customer service.I know they stop taking orders at 9:00 which is understandable when they close at 9:30. Called way ahead of time, multiple times, three of those times I was hung up on. I love the sushi here, but the customer service is terrible.
