Nice family run restaurant! The service was excellent, the place was clean, but the best part was the food! We had ribs, brisket, jalapeno sausage and peach cobbler. It was all great, it's pretty close to home and we'll definitely go back again.

My favorite food is BBQ. The BBQ here is better than Franklin's in Austin and you don't have the wait. As far as the portions are concerned I don't see how anyone could leave without a full belly. I generally order the pulled pork but it is all great. Do yourself a huge favor and try it. Bob

We stopped at Happy Trails Barbecue while passing through Palestine, TX and were impressed! The moist brisket was outstanding, ribs were a hit with the kids, and the sausages were flavorful but not too spicy. Pulled pork was solid, and the sauce tied it all together.
Clean, rustic vibe and great prices—especially for prime brisket. Worth the stop!

It’s a great place and you feel welcomed. I like how they treat seniors. I take my mom and another elderly friend and they treat them extra special! Food is great and my oh my the fried okra!!! It’s excellent.

We were just passing through, needed some fuel for our bodies, and picked this restaurant on maps with fingers crossed. We were so pleased with everything. The restaurant was spotless, and the food was fresh and delicious. 😋 To boot, the folks there were pleasant. This will be our go-to restaurant anytime we pass through. Thanks a bunch!
I will say I was surprised! I'm very picky about my BBQ and I wasn't sure what I was walking into. I'm glad I came! This food is amazing. I had the pulled pork combo with the baked potato salad. I couldn't stop eating it was so amazing. Best potato salad I've ever had and I so wish I had the recipe so I could eat it every day xD The service was just as amazing as the food. They went above and beyond to serve my family and made it a wonderful experience! Thank you guys so much!

I have two major regrets: not taking a photo and not being able to leave a zero-star review. I ordered the two-meat plate with brisket and chicken, and it was by far the smallest portion I’ve ever received at a BBQ joint. The brisket was incredibly dry and the chicken lacked any flavor whatsoever. The sides were equally disappointing, served in containers so small they looked like they were side of salsa, not a full meal. Save yourself the $16 and find a better spot. This one’s not worth it.
