I came here about a month ago. Originally from New Mexico and our Mexican food is always top notch and what I'm used to. It tastes good, cheesy and salty but there is absolutely no spice anywhere to be found. The salsa tastes like marinara...I really wanted to like it and I've been to multiple Mexican restaurants since moving here. They're all salty but no spice whatsoever. If you want real authentic Mexican food with spice try a food truck but if you're just wanting something cheesy this might be a good place for you.
The restaurant had a wonderful family atmosphere with a dedicated play area for children. The food was amazing, and the free ice cream machine was a fantastic touch. Definitely worth visiting!
This place is good. Came in already thinking negative since I really don't like Tex-Mex but the Pastor dish or skillet was excellent. Saw several items on the menu I want to return and try. Great food at a reasonable price.
Staff went above and beyond
Wonderful food and service
Large portions, fast service
After our first day of retropalooza at the Pasadena convention center, we decided to go eat at Jimmy Changas.
We had seen the restaurant and it reminded us of Chuy's in Austin and since Chuy's has fallen off the map with it food, we were hoping for a great food experience...
We had a group of 9 so we called ahead and made accommodations.
Once we arrived we had about a 20 min wait. We were seated in the bar area which was nice.
We received chips and salsas to the table
We ordered different varieties of drinks. We enjoyed the flavors and volume of alcohol in the drinks.
After ordering food we enjoyed some conversations.
Food came out in 2 segments. 7 people got their food together and then 2 people received their food after about 8 mins which is long time for a group.
The food portions were definitely way smaller than expected. The $18 burrito was 1/6 the size of the plate especially with no feelings inside.
Overall, it's a theme experience and the food expectations should be that of.. just a theme.
If you're looking for more traditional stylizations of food, they're definitely better options, but for a group of people looking to converse and just have some basic Tex-Mix then try Jimmy Changas.
Awesome food, atmosphere and staff. Everyone here is friendly and accommodating. The environment makes me feel happy.
Edit 6 years later:
I went back recently after not having been for a few years and found out that they no longer served my go to meal (El Jefe), and I am extremely disappointed. The El Jefe was the perfect meal for me, I just don't know why it was discontinued but I am extremely disappointed.
Always a great experience!! Amazing food and drinks, and awesome customer service!!

Can't rate food. We never received it. Went through a bowl of chips took our drink and appetizer order and we waited....and waited....and waited in a half-full restaurant. Has never been my go-to place, but the lids enjoy. Needless to say, after waiting well over 20 minutes we walked out parched and without food.
Great food awesome service the shrimp Diablo is delicious
No prebus tables, no limes for icetea , tale a long time for bar drinks.manager just stand on floor
You pay for what you get, and here it's good food.
