Food is overpriced! Their redfish is $30 and it's not even the whole portion of fish. When I questioned the price I was told Saltgrass redfish is $31. I looked up Saltgrass menu and say the redfish entree with 2 shrimp and crab meat butter sauce. So they're imitating Saltgrass but they give you a smaller portion of fish and 2 small sides. AND THE CRAB MEAT SAUCE IS BETTER BECAUSE YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE CRAB MEAT, AND THE SHRIMP IS JUMBO SHRIMP. FISH CITY GRILL CRAB MEAT BUTTER IS JUST SAUCE! Fish city grill started out being a neighborhood seafood restaurant with reasonable prices when someone didn't want to pay for a upper restaurant like Saltgrass. SO NOW I GO TO SALTGRASS AND PAY THE $4 DIFFERENCE AND I GET BREAD & BUTTER, SALAD, 2 SIDES AND THE WHOLE REDFISH FILLET WITH THE 2 SHRIMP AND CRAB MEAT SAUCE AlL FOR $31 VERSUS $30 FOR FISH CITY GRILL SMALLER PORTIONS.

I'll give it 3 stars mainly due to the spiciness of the food. Everything was tasty, but unfortunately, it was too spicy for us! The pasta with chicken and shrimps felt like a fire, and both the gumbo soup and shrimp grits were overly spiced. Despite enjoying spicy food, these dishes were way too intense. There was no mention on the menu, and the waiter didn't warn us either.

I ate here two weeks ago on a Friday. Great service, very attentive. I like the pub atmosphere, very cozy. I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered fried calamari, a cup of gumbo, and a shrimp po-boy. The fried calamari was bland. If I go somewhere and see calamari on the menu, I'm getting it. I know my calamari. The gumbo: I've honestly have only tried gumbo at 3 places in/around Houston, including this one. This one was the worst. The shrimp po-boy: underwhelming. The bread had a peculiar taste. I don't know if its an issue with the brand of bread used or the way its stored but I'll give this place the benefit of the doubt that the bread just happened to be off that day. It was pretty busy that day so I'm sure there are other dishes that are delicious at this place.
