The first visit, which was couple of months ago was amazing. Satays were melt in your mouth delicious, full of flavors. We came back for that amazing food again, but it felt like we were at a different restaurant. I am not sure what happened within that two months, but the meat was tough, it was served cold (not warm off the grill). Satay came with lots of pieces that we could not even chew. Rendang was also just tough and served room temp. It took 25 min or so to get our food.

It is such a shame. I know they can really serve up awesome food. I hope they are able to troubleshoot quickly.

I got the pork sate (pictured), my husband got the beef. The smell lured us in and the taste was just as good!!

We had a great experience at Sate Texas. The food was really good and full of flavor. We ordered the chicken skewer, pork skewer, and tempeh skewer, and everything was amazing. The house-made sauce had a really nice kick to it and brought everything together perfectly.

The food did take a little time to come out, but it was well worth the wait. We went with our daughter and were happy to find they had a high chair available, which made things so much easier. Parking was also super convenient with spots available right in front of the restaurant. We’ll definitely be going back.

I ate here for the first time and now have a new favorite on my list. The food was amazing, and the service was very friendly and good. I had the pork satay and it was really juicy and flavor was sweet and slightly spicy, just the way I like it. They give you another satay sauce at the table that can jack the heat way up if you like.

I ordered the pork satay meal with the yellow rice. It was delicious. The pork was perfectly cooked. The perfect mixture of crisp from the charcoal and still moist and flavorful. The marinade for the meat is just as sweet and savory as you could want. The sauce on the side was delicious as were the pickled vegetables they serve with it. Will definitely return.

We have been frequenting Sate Texas since their food truck days. They also have supported many Indonesian charities, such as Rumah Budaya. Etc. Wonderful food and owners. I find their cooking is authentic and very tasty... certainly bring me back to being Indonesian. So very proud of their accomplishments on having a brick n mortar. Congrats. It's hard to be small business owners in today's economical environment. Please support. We don't have too many Indonesian restaurants in the Austin area. We also just learned that they will be a vendor at the Annual Asian Night Market, this coming October 18th at the Cedar Park's Lake line Lake Park. This is to benefit the Greater Austin Asian Chamber and Lunar Foundation. Thank you for your hearts. So excited.

No offense, but as an Indonesian, I was a bit disappointed with the taste of the food at this restaurant. I’ve tried what’s been called the best satay, nasi kremes, and more—but personally, the flavors didn’t meet my expectations. That said, this is just my opinion—others might really enjoy it. Give it a try and decide for yourself whether it’s a one-time visit or a place you’d come back to.

Food was amazing. I was blown away with the freshness of the ingredients but the quantity to cost ratio is truly disappointing.

We ordered to go because it was hot in the restaurant. Good service. We tried the pork and chicken skewers. Pork was tasty but had lots of fat. We liked the sauce and vegetables that came with the meal. We expected more flavor from the yellow rice.

Just enjoyed a delicious Indonesian lunch here with a girlfriend and we were in awe of the flavors, portions, and friendly service. We ordered the mie bakso (meatball noodle soup), ketoprak (fried tofu + fish cake), ayam bakar (chargrilled chicken…dark meat!), sate babi (chargrilled pork skewers) and topped with cendol dessert! They grill to perfection here with a nice caramelized finish! Marinades on the skewers were my favorite kind of savory and sweet! I ordered extra to go for my family to try it too! So happy we stumbled into this gem!

My husband and I had saté babi (pork skewer), sate sapi (beef skewer), bakso ( Indonesian meatball soup), gado-gado(salad with peanut sauce), kueh lupis (sticky rice cake with Palm sugar), cendol (Indonesian dessert), but I forgot to take all of the pictures :D I love how they cook the Saté with real charcoal which makes them taste smoky, distinctive and unique.

Vegetarian options: Saté Tempeh (soybean skewer), gado-gado (mix salad with peanut sauce)

The food was amazing! The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcomed. My fiancé is Indonesian and felt right at home. It’s hard to find authentic Indonesian food around here so this was like finding a needle in a haystack! We’ll definitely be coming back when we’re back in town.

This is a bit of a hard one for me because I really want amazing businesses like these to flourish. I also want to give raw honest feedback. Like some other people have mentioned in the reviews, the price did not justify the amount of food we got. Both time we got food, we spent over $50 but we still left hungry afterwards. The taste of the skewers were pretty tasty but I did get pieces of pure inedible fat. Personally, the quality, the type and amount of food, and the price just does not justify for me to be back. The owners seem really sweet and they look like they care about their business. I really wish the best for them!
