Seriously disappointed with value today. Spent 18 bucks and my bowl was 90% rice! The few salmon pieces were also dated; not fresh salmon.

I’ve been to this location a few times before and this place got me into poke bowls but after this last visit with a younger gentleman and an older box-blonde woman who had a very leisurely demeanor and was not helpful in assisting with my order I will not be returning to this location. I see there is another Makai location in McAllen that may have service better suited for human services.
I saw a post about the wait times, and the business replied with staff shortage. Well I came in today and it looked pretty staffed to me, 3 girls on the front making orders and other employees in the back, they took forever to even start on an order that I had placed ahead of time. One of the girls starts making a bowl for herself pulls out her phone and continues to touch everything without gloves, she even licked her finger by the toppings area and continued to grab. I get impatient so I went back to my car to wait while they started on my order. My phone sent me a notification that it was ready and when get off again to pick it up I noticed there was a whole bowl missing, so I waited AGAIN to have them complete the missing bowl. Horrible experience. I don’t even want to get into detail on how order was missing sauces and toppings. I’m done visiting this location.

It’s unfortunate that this place always takes forever. Doesn’t help if you call ahead either. I’ve arrived twice and my order hasn’t been ready. The food is great, but only come here if you have PLENTY of time to waste. Don’t recommend if you only have an hour lunch break.Unfortunately they don’t prioritize the customers in store over incoming calls either. Since they only schedule 1 person to make the bowls and take the calls, you have to wait until they hang up for them to take your order.

My favorite poke spot for sure! Always love the food here; the service could improve though, the person who has been there the last 2 times made us feel a bit unwelcome.
But the food is delicious so I will keep coming back :)

While the food was good. I warn one to check the price they are charged as what is reflected on the board is lower than the price at the register. The poor girl waiting on me could only say the prices recently changed and the board has not been updated. Not a good business practice. I won’t return to Makai.
This place is amazing!! Portion is huge. Good value for the money. The cucumber string was way long, need knife to eat.
