if i ever needed a sign to stop eating out… i got it today 😅
i was SO excited to try El Queso after a friend brought some over to the house. unfortunately the nibble i got from my sister’s quesadilla outshined my entire meal.
when i arrived, the restaurant was empty, which is never a red flag for me. a few people showed up shortly after i’d ordered.
the service wasn’t all that friendly either which, again, im used to bypassing. you never know what kind of day someone had before encountering you. i still left a cash tip in the jar.
now when my quesadilla arrived, i was so excited to dig in!!! i’m already a messy eater so i didn’t care too much that it was falling apart a little bit… but after a certain point it became unbearable and made me realize the way it was cut/plated is why im having this experience with this slippery quesadilla.
even when im eating out, there’s a level of care i want to experience with the meal in front of me and this place simply did not offer that. i also had a fountain drink that tasted like something may be off with their pipes… after a certain amount of sips, i couldn’t keep on drinking that.
i wanted to like this place… i was so excited to try it! i was mentally prepared to leave an amazing review when i first arrived, but it just left a literal bad taste in my mouth.
how it started vs how it went… i would’ve been better off going to Chiloso.

Is very much like a Chipotle but the quality was not that great for the price that I paid for which was very much like Chipotle. I ordered a bowl with rice, beans, chicken plus whatever topping I can put in it and my chicken had no seasonings and tasted like a day old chicken to me, not sure how fresh it was but I couldn’t finish my meal because I wasn’t happy with it plus I was afraid to get stomach sickness. I came here because it had good reviews and pictures looked good but after tasting their food I’m definitely not coming back.

El Queso is a great local Mexican hole-in-the-wall restaurant serving tacos, burritos, quesadilla, nachos and more. The ingredients are always fresh, the employees are always pleasant and the servings are always large. Plus, you can’t beat their prices!

This place has similar concept as Chipotle! Friendly staff, decent options and generous portions! Plus, u get chips with every order! This was my first time here and maybe I should have ordered spicy sauce or atleast ask them for it when I realized my meal could use a bit more punch! Giving it 3 stars for food because I got a veggie burrito with queso and their queso was super runny and missed flavor (atleast on the day I visited)! Atmosphere- the carpet is pretty dirty and doesn’t give very inviting vibes but I saw a lot of young students, so maybe they are doing the best they can to keep up with the rush 😊. Would certainly give it another try!

Prices are even higher than posted. $16.85 for a regular steak bowl by itself!😡 Gross restaurant, very dirty, but decent tasting food. Overall disappointment. Not worth the money.

I have been coming here after or during school since the last year. It’s so much better than chipotle its funny. I love how El Queso always is cheaper and tastes better than its predecessor chipotle. I moved away from this location but i wanted to thank the staff for always coming in clutch when i need the fresh food. No better way to finally end the last of the last school with eating el queso.

I had high hopes for El Queso but unfortunately it doesn’t separate itself from any other taco/burrito joint. The food is just ok and the restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired. The employees were super nice so that’s a plus
