The lady taking orders “Amy” lied about her name. Didn’t wanna give my husband PLASTIC UTENSILS because she didn’t believe we ordered here. Like girl, it’s not that serious 😒 I ordered while my husband was taking care of our baby, and when he went to grab utensils, she REFUSED. Sometimes racism goes the other way, and she treated him like complete trash. I’ve seen her every time I come to Legacy!!! how is she still working there treating people like that? Amy (or whatever your real name is), you are a whole piece of work. Hope life gives you the same energy you put out. All that attitude… over a PLASTIC utensil

We’re big fans of Chef Tiffany Derry and dined at her Roots Southern Table and Radici Wood Fired Grill. Both very upscale and delicious, but for the money it’s Roots Chicken Shak for us! We’ve been back three times for the juicy duck fat fried chicken and fries, and when there was a delay on our order Monday 10/13 which caused our food to be just warm, the cook apologized and whipped up a fresh new hot batch. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I went to visit this location because I wanted to try it. I love Tiffany Derry and I wanted to support her. Speaking on the customer service, I was not a happy camper. The young man at the register didn't want to answer my questions or he just didn't know how. So that was frustrating. This location is inside of Legacy West in Plano and it was loud and busy. Some of the food spots inside have a microphone to call out individuals waiting but NOT Roots. We were waiting for my name to be called and could barely hear. When my boyfriend stepped up to ask if they called my name, they said yes but they gave our order to someones who order was wrong🤔.
So then we waited just a few more minutes. We got our food and dove in because I was excited to try her food. It was Oooook. Not what I expected. I know it's not her cooking her recipes but I guess I have to try her restaurant in Farmers Branch but I WON'T go back to her Chicken Shack.
We spent $33 for Chicken, fries and a drink.

I ordered the chicken strips and didn’t realize I needed to manually select the sauces that are included in the price. When I went back to ask for them, I explained the situation and showed my receipt. While I completely understand that I forgot to select the sauces, I felt the interaction could’ve been handled with a bit more understanding.
Instead of just helping resolve it, the response felt more focused on pointing out that the mistake was mine — which I had already acknowledged. It turned a small, fixable issue into something unnecessarily tense.
A little more flexibility or a simple gesture of offering the sauce (which is included anyway) would’ve gone a long way in creating a better experience. I hope this can be used as helpful feedback moving forward.

OMG!!! I came for the chicken sandwich and ended up pairing the chicken sandwich, with the fried fish sandwich as well. It’s always a win for me, when a chicken sandwich is made from a piece of chicken thigh than breast. The chicken was moist and season perfectly. The breading was super crispy, the same can be said about the fried catfish sandwich. The seasoning, and the batter made this fish sandwich.

One of my favorite places to eat. The staff are always friendly, the food is always fresh, and everything on the menu is amazing.
Tried the fries and three wings. The fries were first rate but the wings were very greasy and underwhelming. If I’m in the area again I’ll try the tenders but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way based on my experience. If you claim your wings are gourmet they have to at least measure up against Louisiana Seafood, Mike’s Chicken or KFC.
